@echo_pbreyer

Ask your government to call on the European Commission to withdraw the chat control proposal

France voted left against far right, won the election then defeated side ignored the results and put facist, far right bootlickers in power. They wipes themselves with nationwide elections results, they don't listen to millions of people in the street. Sorry but suggesting to "ask your goverment" sound totaly disconnected from reality.

@echo_pbreyer this particular government was put in place after losing a national vote. They keep pushing their laws by force using executive orders, bypassing our elected representatives, ignoring all the democratic calls to halt their widely hated, unjust politics.
Again, sorry but "ask your government" and " they can be reasoned with" sounds totally disconnected from reality. In France, this ship has sailed.
@echo_pbreyer Thx for taking the time to answer. I trully appreciate your work and actions. I really would like to help. However, there is no way I'm writing a polite letter to a fascist like Retaillau or call any of his collaborators. There is no world in which I'm speaking in favor of "national security" to those nazi aspiring m**f***.

Is there any other mean of action that we can take to fight against this?

🇬🇧🚨Leak: Many countries that said NO to in 2024 are now undecided—even though the 2025 plan is even more extreme!
🗳️ The vote is THIS October.

A map of Europe shows countries color-coded based on their government's stance on "ChatControl." The legend indicates: green for "Opposing/Neutral," blue for "Undecided," and red for "In Favour." Most Western and Southern European countries (including France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, and Greece) are in red, indicating they are in favour. Countries like Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and the Netherlands are in green, indicating opposition or neutrality. Several countries, including Finland, Estonia, Belgium, Romania, and Greece, are in blue, indicating they are undecided. The text at the top reads "Help Stop #ChatControl!" and at the bottom, "Act now! www.chatcontrol.eu."

https://petitions.assemblee-nationale.fr/initiatives/i-2458

@echo_pbreyer Sad to see the government of my country continuing with the support for this madness (in the process there was even a change of the party in power).
I guess, overall, our political class is too illiterate to properly understand all the implications of such a thing. They seem to rely solely on stated intentions, and nobody ever showed any interest in discussing the subject.
@echo_pbreyer @Kierkegaanks I've made a small gist on GitHub that outlines the issues I've personally found with it.

Accessibility-wise: mainly that links are not underlined, and images are not clickable

Text-wise: too much information that may be overwhelming for a casual reader, no descriptions for some of the words, and some inconsistencies and typos.

Perhaps surface easier-to-understand (and easier-to-read) TL:DR sections for some of the content? Your average Joe most likely won't understand some of the legalese or complex language on the site.

@echo_pbreyer @Kierkegaanks That is so much better! Thank you!

On a side note, I'd like to translate the article from chatcontrol.eu to Romanian, would that be fine with you? I don't know if my blog has any audience, but it'd still be helpful to make this post accessible to more people 😄 (of course, under the CC-BY-4.0 license)

@echo_pbreyer
Thank you for providing some background!

However, I doubt that this resolution will hold indefinitely. The Austrian parliament very recently expanded the surveillance capabilities of our intelligence service and our current government (which has a majority in parliament) - especially minister for the interior Karner - apparently favors digital surveillance.
Parliament is currently in recess, but they will meet again in September.
