Some whale #linocut prints for #WorldWhaleDay! I’ve had the great privilege of seeing humpbacks and orcas (and other species) when working at sea. They seem as curious about us as we are of them. 🧵1/2

My linocut orca whale is leaping out of the water leaving a trail of splashed droplets of water from the sea surface. It’s printed in black on white paper.

My square 8” x 8” print on white washi paper. The upper two thirds are printed as a deep blue-green rectangle with missing unprinted white silhouette of a humpback whale now filled with a linocut print of the humpback in dark blue-grey. The tip of its mouth and tail extend into the white margin space. The bottom third is a grey rectangle with the missing silhouettes of 6 barnacles unprinted in white now filled with linocut C. diadema barnacles with silver striations and orange centres with opercular valves.

I would love to see the blue whale and narwhals, here in my other prints, too.

I hope we always live in a world where whales can thrive.

My linocut in silver on white washi paper of a pod of narwhals. There are two large ones near the top crossed like an x, each head up, and three smaller ones below pointed towards the upper left, lower right and one going into the plane of the image with a horizontal line at the top, marking the surface of the water.
