One thing about the USPS's apparent acceptance of NC's first batch of ballots: this creates a new fact in the case that's probably going to be helpful to the plaintiffs (for this election). The USPS has now accepted "non compliant" ballot mailings for some voters. (And compliance is effectively impossible at this point).
If the USPS later starts refusing ballots, SOME voters will have been allowed to receive mail ballots, while others will have been denied them.

The invention of the video terminal is one of those things in computing history that everybody takes for granted now, but was actually hugely important.
Like, the usefulness of a video terminal was obvious even back then, but it took quite a lot of engineering to make hardware capable of actually doing it. Drawing text on a screen is really hard compared to just sending characters to a typewriter.

Watching the screen re-draw the text in SketchPad (recorded in the summer of 1962 according to the narrator Alan Kay [who had Ivan Sutherland as his doctoral thesis advisor]) is impressive and I can almost feel the wires of the underlying TX-2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TX-2) and display to which it was attached heating up:
