@halcy I am at a cottage in the coast in the east and it got pretty rough last night. The car decided to sleep under the bed. In the morning, the car was sleeping in between us at the head of the bed.

I know its something that ultimately doesnt matter at all but opening up a fortune cookie and getting nothing but ads for a fintech service is a sign that something has gone terribly wrong
As the U.S president cozies up to the North Korean dictator, America's allies in the region are building a new defense architecture. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/commentary/2026/08/23/trump-kim-indo-pacific/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #commentary #us #northkorea #donaldtrump #kimjongun
A "Not interested" option in #loops would be nice. There are many accounts on my For You with stuff I don't want to watch but blocking them feels wrong. I don't have any issue with them and I would not mind receiving DMs or comments. I feel like this feature could be interesting for other people as well.
@ms_zwiebel open the share sheet!

Neat, I’ve been thinking of @nuages UI in terms of screenshotability, mostly to keep unnecessary things out of the way, but slapping a fedi pentagram in place of the logo could be quite nice
The US was making crazy demands regarding the trade deal with Canada such as removing French language requirements from packaging and controlling what trade deals Canada can sign.
Great to see Mark Carney stand up for Canada’s sovereignty and stand up against bullies 🫶🇨🇦
“the U.S. had issues with Canada's subsidies for French culture; the prevalence of French-language media online and even the requirement to have bilingual labels on products sold in Canada”

Die Änderung verstößt doch deutlich gegen https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/gg/art_20a.html, kann man auf der Basis noch was erreichen?
@NewtonMark *nods* the 10 minute walk home from the train station carrying a new car battery in a woolies green bag wasn’t pleasant.
@jpm @NewtonMark I did enjoy having a manual small enough for 2 people to push start
On Elon Musk's disinformation platform, you can create a Russian propaganda account and get to 163,000 followers in just five months.
This account falsely claims that Ukraine wants to destroy Europe in a nuclear apocalypse, and the money financing weapons to Ukraine is actually used for sports cars.
Stay in reality. Choose #Mastodon.
@randahl If there ever was a fascist wearing a cross, Moscow’s orthodox church was one. But I guess US Nationalist Christians are giving them a run for their money!
My library gives me free access to other apps and services through the Hoopla app's Binge Passes.
So now I'm watching classic anime for free through the RetroCrush app via the Hoopla app via my library card.
I love this #solarpunk future.
@tinker Bubblegum Crisis is awesome but I wouldn’t classify it as solarpunk. Rather cyberpunk?
There’s a documentary on youtube about the making of it and the tragedy surrounding its director.
The social web will not succeed via moral grandstanding and ostracizing others based on one narrow worldview.
RT: @seanhhm Imagine you, a Canadian citizen, got murdered by Israel and all your country did was write a tweet.
I DONE ALL MY PAPERWORK. In your stupid, FACE, universe. And not to be a Billy Big-Braggs, but I also worked out how to properly sync my 3 family apple calendars to my android phone (not even just read-only), then finally properly also synced my personal email to my phone (including a bunch of very confusing settings) and then after fully optimising my phone power settings and updating and physically cleaning all of my computers I called the holiday park that was evacuated due to fires (and our family holiday therefore relocated), had a lovely chat with the person there and arranged refunds for the difference in price (that no one thought we'd get) for us and the other families we were with.

I'm now going to make a bloody amazing dinner and do a bit of kitchen dancing. I love you. Goodbye.
@TheBreadmonkey Here's something for your next kitchen dance Ben: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8K1HpeOyi4
I want a map app where I can import all my gpx tracks and then ask it to give me a route to where I want to go. Not the shortest route, not the least hilly route, not the calmest route...
but the route that follows my existing tracks the least.
So that I can experience new places I haven't been before.
Does this exist?
@forteller I played around with a similar idea but it was “apply a heavy penalty to any segment that already has streetview imagery captured”. Never got it out of the toy stage but I think the idea is fun!
Well this is early for a Sunday.
@neil it’s my favourite time of the day.
Realized I hate stuff that sucks. Huge epiphany for me
A big fuck you to everyone who told us we were overreacting about Project 2025.
