p.p.s. There are lots more fundamental problems with LLMs:

- LLMs are unreliable as they frequently produce extremely wrong answers, pizza recipes with glue etc.

- LLMs are entirely dependent on stolen human data. If LLMs have human data cut off, their output turns to gibberish.

- LLMs can be easily used to astroturf any online discourse.

- LLM owners can easily manipulate their users by with misleading answers.

- LLMs are killing the websites they steal data from.

etc etc etc.

The $700k/yr-paid editor of academic labour exploitation magazine Science writing an article complaining about how AI is exploiting academic labour and making publishers lives more difficult, and then getting caught using ChatGPT to write the article, feels like the perfect end to this academic year.

I used to mention this more when my kid was small and the social internet was different but man, having a kid continues to be the absolute greatest in ways I never expected,and our kid and her friends just keep getting cooler and funnier, I love them.

@NilaJones @idlestate I only have a balcony garden with a few tubs, so I don't need a lot of water. Something around the 10-15l each watering.

yeah, because the media distorted/latched onto Taco Bell and tarred them when it seems like they were actually being a responsible actor and taking a hit by acting voluntarily and speaking publicly. it does seem to have been lettuce sourced in mexico (by a US-owned conglomerate), but Taco Bell is unfairly blamed

A general rule of thumb from scientific paper I read somewhere when I was building my gray water system: shower water has 1/10 the e coli of laundry water, which has 1/10 the e coli of water from flushing the toilet

I've not had a problem with soap in 20 years of using gray water, but I do use natural soaps. Dr bronner's for washing my hands, for example

Other people have said no problem from commercial laundry detergent, but I haven't tried

I would suggest piping your laundry, kitchen sink, or bath water out to the garden. It's a lot more water than washing your hands in the bathroom

I do not use any of this on strawberries, or lettuce, or other things that grow low to the ground that I eat raw

Things with smooth surfaces, easy to wash, that I eat cooked, like zucchini, no problem! And of course fruit trees, and ornamentals
