@_elena Yeah, using shortcuts to websites instead of apps is a good move, privacy wise.
On that note I'm curious: What setup did you end up with, with your GrapheneOS setup? Because one can get quite crazy with maximizing privacy in all regards, which make it less convenient though, so I'm curious how far you went ^^
@jana my GrapheneOS phone is a test second phone... I wanted to try it out for a while before deciding whether to switch to it from my iOS device.
I have 2 profiles: one for "Big Tech" where there's very little anyway and a main one that I use all the time without Google Play services.
I use it for web browsing + RSS mostly (over my iPhone) as it's more privacy-focused... and I love having a smartphone with no messaging apps (aside from DeltaChat) where I cannot be reached. If it makes sense
Well done to the CEO of Krafton, who asked ChatGPT how to avoid paying $250m in bonuses if Subnautica 2 launched well, executed the ChatGPT plan, got sued by staff, had all the chat logs appear in court, lose, and now have to pay $250m and more and be publicly humiliated by his own employees.
🆕 blog! “UK Government Kicks Out Palantir”
The UK Government, for all its faults, is pretty good at publishing contracts it has awarded. That's why I get depressed when I see rage-bait nonsense about how companies have been award "Top Secret" deals.
Right now you can go to https://www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk and search for whichever bête noire has you riled up. You …

Oh hey look it was literally always that simple to fund basic public services. What the fuck were you doing for 50 years, Democrats?
That much evidence and still only one conviction. https://www.comicsands.com/trump-exhibit-epstein-files?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=infeed&utm_campaign=linkprogram

LARPing as centre-left while blocking most genuine leftists from getting into political office. From the federal level on down to state and even local government. This is what the Clintonite Democrats have been doing since Bill was President, if not longer. Their leadership are not incompetent, they're just not on our side, and never have been.
It feels like AANHPI Month arrives this year under a shadow. My family was incarcerated during World War II — not because we had done anything wrong, but because of who we were. Fear was weaponized against us.
Today, I watch families torn apart by ICE. I watch immigrants, many of them AANHPI, living in terror, not knowing if they'll see their families when they come home. The cruelty is familiar. But so is the resilience.
AANHPI communities have always built this country while fighting for their place in it. For every family waiting. For every dreamer. For every person who came to make a life here and deserves to live it without fear. Let’s celebrate each other and remind them we are not going anywhere.

@dangillmor "Pay nor or pay more later." Saw a piece about this a week or so ago because Idaho had cut back on Medicaid mental health care, then saw various costs (including policing) go up and also deaths, so re-instated the payments.
Kevin Warsh has backed Trump’s calls for lower interest rates.
But could his Wall Street background and long-held concerns about inflation still make him an independent Federal Reserve chair?
New feature coming in #LibreOffice 26.8, in August: keyboard shortcuts can be configured for individual documents (and saved in them). This feature was added by Neil Roberts, who recently joined the TDF team: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/26.8#Core_/_General #foss #openSource #freesoftware

right now I'm doing what I thought would be a very tedious task (moving a bunch of CSS from Tailwind to using vanilla CSS) and actually it's helping me learn me some things about structuring CSS that I've wanted to learn for a long time.
it's a lot of fun even though it does take time
