@inquiline I am wondering if I should have been harder on grading the good students earlier in the semester, to keep them on notice. They breezed through the assignments (smart kids) but definitely were speed running them....
i'm the wrong person to ask as all i do is require less and less work and lower my standards and then lower them again. everyone i know is at a loss these days, and overall the situation defies comprehension

@randomgeek i probably have enough of a background for a deep analysis but tbh it just pisses me off lmao (much of this is around its desire to represent a build system and/or toolchain but doing it in a way that is completely opposite to everything i care about. i have worked very hard to build c/++ toolchains because everyone constantly seeks to tie toolchain support to their own hardware/os, and zig is clearly playing an EEE game that way, which sucks)
@randomgeek rejecting LLM contributions is a mark in my good books though and i don't plan to publicly denigrate them unless they make further decisions that aggravate me. in general i just find their approach unimaginative
