Colombia asked for masks and the Covid Conscious Community showed up!
On Augst 17 we send a call for solidarity for people to donate and help us send masks to Colombia. The local mask bloc there @guiapandemica asked for help. With the government's negligence in the face of the earthquake, people were and are getting sicker.
The respose? More than 4 packages sent. People showed up sending donations and/or coordinating sending masks.
This is what community looks like. Every pandemic, every fire, every earthquake it’s an opportunity to serve the people.
Remember: everything we have is thanks to the working-class, in masks it goes from creating to transporting.
Let's not forget that COVID is a class struggle.
Keep the antiimperialist solidarity. Don’t forget the goal: liberation for all.

A tiny Bonfire feature that we’ve grown quite fond of 🌱
Instance admins can define their own set of default avatars, which are randomly assigned to people who haven’t uploaded a profile picture yet.
It sounds like a very small thing and technically, it is.
But after experimenting with it on the Jacobin community, we noticed how much these little details can contribute to giving an instance its own visual identity and fostering a sense of belonging to a shared digital place.
Not every feature that shapes a community needs to be big. Sometimes it’s just a bunch of tiny avatars 😊

@jerzone @mycrowgirl wow!!

Also 2024, this one was rummaging along someone's stone wall down the road at 7:30 in the morning. If not the same one, a close relative?
Our friend @hook has solved the conundrum of how to comply with FOSS licenses for client-side Javascript, CSS and other stuff served via web.
@F30 no i'm referring to its maintainers being fundamentally untrustworthy people who are backdooring their own users
@hipsterelectron That would include a significant portion of all software, both open-source and proprietary.
Sorry, that is not how these things work.
@vruz @cyrilwinstanley I could understand Barcola, (23), Mbaye (18), Minteh (injured, 22).
Sarr (28) is more difficult for me to believe as a real option. At his age, the ceiling is typically not much higher.
That's right. And it tells you something about which traits LFC appear to think they need, and which requirements they're willing to soften as a priority. Age being clearly the first demand dropped, just like we did with Endo in the past.
It should not need to be said, but academic freedom is a qualified and nuanced freedom predicated on serious intellectual work - it is not and can not be an excuse for contrarian opinions unsupported by rigorous scholarship. See

This is the first genuinely operational littleFedi instance.
It has been online since 1st July, is single-user (just me), and runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W powered by NetBSD, directly on its SD card.
It consumes just under 1W.
Its database is this size:
-rw------- 1 little wheel 109289472 Aug 26 15:14 littlefedi.db
That is, just a little over 100 MB. Yes, MB.
Its average CPU load is extremely low.
It is perfectly usable both from the web interface and from Mastodon API apps.
I have 179 followers and 169 followings, and it doesn't bat an eye.
I promise myself to use it more, and I will.
You don't need Big Tech to communicate with others.
You don't need an expensive data center to exist online.
Because we are people, and the bits are just extensions of our voice.
I love skunks, they're so cute and gentle. I know a lot of people are scared of them what with the onboard chemical weapons, but in all but the rarest cases you REALLY have to push them to get sprayed. As long as you're polite, they're very happy to coexist in the same spaces, everyone just has to respect personal space.
@idzie i think every animal should have onboard chemical weapons they might have more of a chance against humans
Wauv - the weather in Aalborg today. I have been working from home, sitting outside in the shadow - really warm and sunny.
@alexchapman Are there still such captchas? I haven't seen any of that type for a long time. HCaptcha is a different topic, it has accessibility options but... Yeah, we know the story.
@destranis Yeah, unfortunately there are.

@G6eorge Yes, they installed a new earth rod.
@neil makes sense in case your return earth path goes down when the supply goes.
Est-ce que ça va passer au JT ?
