EU fines Google $1 billion over its search and Play Store
European Union regulators fined Google €890 million last Thursday, saying the company broke the bloc’s digital competition law.
The penalty, worth about $1 billion, closes two investigations the European Commission opened in March 2024. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, takes in roughly that much revenue in a day.

A word of advice people, that comes from experience.
When you're feeling down because all the good people are dying, make stuff. I mean it. It doesn't have to be good, it doesn't have to be useful (tbh its best if its daft). It'll keep your hands busy and often it'll distract your brain too.
And at the end of it, you've made a thing. And maybe you'll feel less sad, maybe you won't, but I always find the world feels less awful when I've been making random stuff for the sake of it.

I don’t know if I can finish this book as a grown adult. I was introduced to the book from the perspective of an AP English teacher of my own who wanted to inspire his students and get them to write well. The book is brilliantly written; the characters aren’t perfect and have a very tangible quality to them. But it’s a damn hard read now that I’ve learned more about people than I knew as a teenager

@emaytch sooo true, and maybe 2000 years from now we will still be using those "roman roads" locally, distributed, replaced by other stuff here and there :)
Two things irk me about the Fuji X-T2. The exposure compensation knob and the on/off switch are really easy to move when stuffing or taking out the camera from a cramped bag. So, sometimes I start taking pictures with the wrong exposure. Today I took out the camera, and it had stayed powered up overnight, which drained the battery. I have the LCD off, but the EVF sensor on, and I think the sensor may have thought that the cramped bag meant "camera close to eye".
