Just reading about the death of the Norwegian king. Physically recoiled at reading he was a popular leader, credited with breaking tradition by marrying a COMMONER. I do not love that word. It's 2026 for fucks sake. We don't say that the royals are.... a.... fuckn bunch of parasites. Outdated. Slavers. A disgusting blight on humanity. Commoners. What a word. Peasants. The unclean.
@TheBreadmonkey Given Diana, daughter of a hereditary earl, FFS, was also touted as a "commoner", it does give one the urge to kick somebody in their artificially-whitened teeth.
@TheBreadmonkey How progressive of him to opt for a non inbred wife.
@TheBreadmonkey I am sorry you feel this way. Most Norwegians appreciate their and his doing and what they are forced to sacrifice to be our representatives and unpolitical figure heads. The word commoner does not translate well here. I am not an advocating royalist, but as long as they are willing to have this role, I'm happy they accept it. They do not resemble your UK monarchy, and I do not want to swap to an elected, divisive, political figure. He united the people and is highly regarded
@TheBreadmonkey i don’t think it has the same connotations in norwegian
@TheBreadmonkey i was surprised they still had Royals in Norway.
Isn’t Europe basically Parliaments Country Safari?
There's a sausage fingered geezer here who gets called, with straight faces, His Royal Highness. Fucking Highness.
I regularly get letters on behalf of His Majesty.
Majesty.
@TwoClownsEating please enter this into a poetry contest as-is. Because it’s poetry.
@TheBreadmonkey If he had a shred of humanity he would have abdicated. He was the proof that he was human garbage.
@TheBreadmonkey And let's face it, kings and queens from other countries are not treated with the same largess or pomp and circumstance as the English ones are. I, too, recoil at this idea of the COMMONER in this day and age.
@TheBreadmonkey You may not say they're parasites, but I may have... and that's why I don't have an MBE.
@TheBreadmonkey It’s only since the EU standardised genital shapes amongst tiers of society that such unions have become normal. Harald initially needed to use a special adapter.
@TheBreadmonkey The only problem with folk songs is they are written by the people.
