man the confluence of AI flooding the internet with trash and DDOSing any site run by actual humans, and a fascist regime trying tighten its control on information in one of the last places where public expression was still open and animated due to the previous administrations understanding that exercising the powers centralization gave them would destroy the thing, sure is uh. going to finally kill the internet for all intents and purposes huh

there’ll be something new, there always is, but itll be underground for a while and it’s going to take everyone years if not decades (if not centuries!) to rebuild from the ground up in a resilient way
i think i never really sat and thought about how much of the internet is the kind of imperial project that’s only obvious when it declines. i think we’ll look at this era the way people used to talk about roman roads
