Te querés cagar de frío o calor?

You're a cat burglar and you break into a house, but you can only steal things that would mildly inconvenience your victim. What do you take?

The bookmark one is life sentence territory.
Flying is a feedback loop.
It doesn’t have a future.
And doing it shortens that timeline.
Trouble is, its cultural effect is far more extensive than its material effect, and that shortens the shortening still further.
But the double double trouble is that the future it beckons – the one where it cannot exist – is the same one in which the prospects for living contract and lives themselves become shorter.
Seems like a bad idea to me

100%. It’s also indicative of people who have their viewpoint and are upset when it comes up against severe pushback, because it turns out they aren’t in a majority within a certain space. Given that X is a Nazi bar grifter machine, it probably shouldn’t be a massive surprise AI folks are slamming alternatives and looking to anything that will support claims said alts are failing.

Que cette série fait du bien.

he does seem like exactly the sort of person who would forcefullly instert themselves as editor of a wikipedia page for a bit of self-promotion
@brettm or would get inserted. he is a tool of the security state, they work together
@marcel i'm specifically concerned about the global nature of the randomness output that comes from the OS and the global nature of the "entropy" inputs which can be affected by any process. i believe the RNG state should be seeded by and remain local to the application for security. i believe the OS may be able to provide a limiited amount of seed input, but it can't share that with other processes, and it should be considered a security boundary
@marcel i am hoping to write a kernel to perform stronger forms of isolation like this
@hipsterelectron
If you don't trust your OS or hardware, things get very complicated quickly (and mostly hopeless).

I had a great few days in Oslo, going on a unicycle ride with @Velocipede Rider and meeting up with @ltning and @Anders Gulden Olstad at their office, visiting the retro computing museum there - and enjoying their very fine coffee.
Then there was the incident where @Øystein B helped me weld my bicycle frame to get it back on the road. Thanks again for this!
The #fediverse is such a wonderful place, full of all these friendly and helpful people! By the way, @Ruarí Ødegaard and @ltning, you guys should meet up for a unicycle training session, @ltning mentioned that he rode unicycles in the past. (It was only for the lack of time that we didn't stop at your office to offer a go when we rode past yesterday, @ltning)
I hope I'll be back some time in the future.

#TTRPG #worldbuilding thought: How do religious institutions in your setting finance themselves?
The most common answers seem to be "donations" and "tithes or taxes", because that's what most people today know. But looking at German history, quite a few monasteries actually specialized in some kind of trade. Brewing beer was popular, as was cultivating wine. And some even developed expertise in mining and construction, and hired themselves out as consultants!
So, what else might your temples, churches, monasteries or whatever do in order to generate some extra income?
@juergen_hubert
Selling excess food production?
They grew crops, kept animals and had artificial ponds for fish. Maybe carp?
Carp might also help sales of other things as they are a bit tasteless?
Did any charge for education?
I'm embarrassed to write that I don't know how it worked in Ireland from maybe 5th C. to 12C (Normans arrive) to perhaps 16th (Henry VIII).
It's not mentioned in my Celtic Otherworld series how it works, except there are no monks or nuns & earlier they did education.
