I have decided to shut down my #mastodon instance, and all my public facing web services.

This will happen in 3 months time, on November 29, 2026, to allow everyone to backup and migrate.

The reason for this is that I can no longer trust:

- the #Linux kernel
- #Debian
- rails
- most #Foss projects

Additionally, I'm basically out of storage, it is unaffordable to purchase more, and no one is interested in donating to help.

Our bastion of free computing has been poisoned by fascist gen ai slop, and basically NONE of it can be trusted anymore.

It's impossible to vet slop from an ecosystem that is welcoming of it.

This makes it nearly impossible to update my systems, which makes it harder to pretend it's even remotely secure.

Debian has voted to not reject use of AI for contributions to the distribution. I've seen people blaming the voting system, political centrism, or 'being tricked' by AI-written proposals to rectify this result.
