Social Distortion – Walk Away (Don't Look Back)
@siracusa @antonyjohnston I am slowly realizing I may need to come up with some sort of window opener automation or app because every time I use the finder I feel like I’m throwing away clicks….

New blog post: Proposal for a dedicated archive site for #Wikipedia
https://blog.legoktm.com/2026/08/28/proposal-for-a-dedicated-archive-site-for-wikipedia.html
In February when English Wikipedia banned usage of archive.today there was a bit of a crisis in needing to find alternative archives.
As far as I know, no solution has actually materialized, so I thought I'd at least write down my idea.
In short, I think the social and legal parts of this are far harder to get right; in comparison the technology seems pretty straightforward.
Proposal for a dedicated archive site for Wikipedia - The Lego Mirror
@legoktm as far as I know, wikiwix.org archives all French Wikipedia external links and permits user annotation, but doesn't bypass paywalls. Perhaps it could be expended to other languages.

@Ro_G oh avec les étiquettes de chicorée on pouvait avoir des timbres? Ça ne me dit rien.
Disappointed that #Debian has chosen what seems like the worst possible option in its vote on LLMs.
No acknowledgement of the harms involved in LLM usage; instead, a claim that they ‘substantially improve productivity’. (It claims not to be an endorsement but makes only pro-LLM statements.)
Vague platitudes about using LLMs ‘responsibly’ when it’s become very clear by now that LLM users can’t be trusted to be responsible without constant supervision. And no requirement for disclosure of LLM usage, even.
It didn’t seem likely that the strongest anti-LLM proposals would pass, but it would have been nice to have at least some restrictions put into place.
The most robust US models for mutual aid draw on existing local resourced communities (established immigrant, established Jewish communities, established free Black communities) assisting newcomers (immigrants, Black people newly escaped/freed from enslavement) in an organized way.
@dansup @pixelfed
Mastodon for short-ish updates.
Pixelfed for pictures.
Peertube for videos.
I couldn't tell you what Misskey is.
I don't know about everyone else, but if I am anything to go by, the reason may simply be that Pixelfed is good at telling people what it is and has a name that makes it easy ro remember (Pixelfed for pixels, Peertube like Youtube - and Mastodon is the big one we meet first, so it doesn't need an obvious name quite as much).
