@klimpong actually I’ve been grappling with it for about 3-4 months now, it actually works now. But cleaning it up and moving it into upstream patches is like crawling over glass I add tests and find out that the original test suites never ran or assumes linuxisms the surprises just keep turning up @janl

I'm not happy about this Meta settlement. It does nothing to address the surveillance business model which is at the core of the harms caused by meta. Instead it subjects billions to age gating and restricts the speech and privacy of teens even further.

Though I guess the only outcome I would have been truly happy with is one where all meta platforms are abolished, and Zuck serves a lifetime sentence as an unpaid Mastodon SRE.

Pixelfed has so many features that it’s kinda understandable that it’s in the state it’s in

Live Streaming, Ephemeral Stories, Groups, Collections, Portfolios, AutoSpam, Places, Hidden Interaction Counts, the first “labeller” for COVID-19 WHO warnings, Parental Controls (you could manage and limit interactions and review them), Instagram Import, Self enforced ALT Text and so much more.

After focusing on stabilizing the core features, polishing those other ones are my priority across web and 📱

Pixel 11 series is a lot more expensive for an incremental improvement to the CPU, the same underpowered GPU and reduced RAM for the Pro base models. They finally caught up to the last generation of Qualcomm cellular radio. It's overpriced, the upgrades aren't impressive and losing MTE is appalling.

Unfortunately then COVID happened and everyone who used to fuck off to foreign places couldn't, and they thought that holidaying in their own country was weird and "why would you do that if you didn't have to" so they stole the term.

For those of us who choose to only holiday in our own country (or, technically, Wales and Scotland sometimes), it's really, really annoying.

@neil last year I was also looking at migrating my old controller, but since my router was also EOL I risked getting the cloud gateway ultra and that migration went pretty good, and running the controller this way is working well with no insisting I enable anything remote. Still consider it selfhosting
