Trump just issued another toothless "executive order" with his janky-ass 6.8 Richter Scale signature, which has zero legal force behind it, renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America”. Another piss-fest tantrum from the neediest, whiniest, thinnest-skinned, most insecure, most pathetic loser in the history of the world.
And fuck you Apple and Google if you do that capitulation shit again in your maps apps, you ball-gargling clowns. #USPolitics #Trump #WhinyAssTittyBaby #LakeAmerica #LakeOntario
My homelab stopped being a toy the day my family started depending on it.
The photos live on the NAS. The ad blocking is why the phones stay quiet, so DNS dying is my problem at dinner. Take anything offline and someone notices within an hour.
I built this so breaking things would be free. Now every change is a negotiation, and I run maintenance windows for a network in my basement.
The reward for a homelab that works is you can't break it anymore.
When did yours become prod?
Today's story is the result of an ungodly amount of research, and I am very glad to finally be able to share with you.
Authorities in Australia have arrested two men believed to be members of TeamPCP, a prolific cybercrime and data extortion group blamed for perpetrating the longest running spree of software supply chain attacks ever.
In a statement released today, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) said two unnamed suspects from Western Australia, aged 21 and 23, were arrested in connection with a “sophisticated cybercrime syndicate that allegedly created malicious open-source software to rob thousands of global businesses.”
The AFP did not name the defendants, but KrebsOnSecurity learned the 21-year-old suspect’s real identity in June, and has been communicating with him ever since. This story includes interviews with TeamPCP’s self-described spokesperson, and examines clues left behind by the TeamPCP leader that likely led to his undoing.

"The idea that an organization that is an alternative host—for email, websites, and other services—could be designated a terrorist organization simply for providing a service that a lot of people want…is scary," EFF’s @jilliancyork told @reasonmagazine. https://reason.com/2026/08/27/rubio-uses-terrorism-law-to-ban-secure-email-service/

A tiny Bonfire feature that we’ve grown quite fond of 🌱
Instance admins can define their own set of default avatars, which are randomly assigned to people who haven’t uploaded a profile picture yet.
It sounds like a very small thing and technically, it is.
But after experimenting with it on the Jacobin community, we noticed how much these little details can contribute to giving an instance its own visual identity and fostering a sense of belonging to a shared digital place.
Not every feature that shapes a community needs to be big. Sometimes it’s just a bunch of tiny avatars 😊

Yeah totally. I've been thinking about updating https://privacy.thenexus.today/is-bluesky-part-of-todays-fediverse/ ... this part has held up pretty well!
"Bluesky does have some very fedi-like aspects. For one thing, there's combination of very visible LGBTQIA2S+ posters and an overall pro-LGBTQIA2S+ vibe with anti-LGBTQIA2S+ bigotry, transmisogyny, transmisogynoir, transmisandry, and tensions within LGBTQIA2S+ communities. Bluesky doesn't have defederation (yet) or #FediBLock or shared intsance blocklists but it does have labelers and blocklists for individuals ... and I gotta say, the weeks-long drama surrounding the Aegis labeler's meltdown a few months ago was very fedi. Also there's lots of anti-Blackness on Bluesky, and plenty of reply guys. so Fediverse folks should feel right at home! "
I think I'm gonna go and borrow the vim-classic derivation from nixpkgs unstable until 26.11. I need an emergency editor on my VPSes, and Emacs is an overkill, I don't always have the option to TRAMP from home, vim is slop, neovim is fash and slop, I tried evil-hx, but it required setting COLORTERM, chosing a theme, and still didn't work out of the box with keybinds I'm used to.
So vim-classic it will be.
Yes, I know ed(1) is the standard unix text editor. I can use it if I need to, I wrote hundreds of thousands of lines of production code in it over the years. It's not the editor I want in this case.

Irresponsible asshole humans let Claude, Codex, and Hermes Install Unowned Code... FTFY

there’s a particular fantasy that procedural tv shows do really well: someone who is freakishly good at solving particular kinds of problems is recognized and rewarded for that skill
Rester sur Twitter be like:
"Non mais moi je reste dans le bar de nazis, parce que tout le monde est là bas !
Du coup si je vais ailleurs que dans le bar de nazis, toutes les personnes qui sont dans le bar de nazis n'entendront pas ce que j'ai à y dire ! Je serai inaudible !"
🤷♂️
(PS: 3/4 des interactions sur Twitter ne viennent pas des humains, mais des robots. Oui même ceux qui vous répondent.)
Ils n'ont absolument pas envie de le comprendre.

**IMPORTANT** Do not, under any circumstances end a sentence with the phrase "if you want to live"
I didn't go to school. I turned it down. Some college up in Jacksonville offered me 10, 15, 5 million USD some stuff like that. But I turned it down, just to grind for Mastodon.

@tvaziri it saddens me that The Hulk 70s show is getting so little recognition.
Ratko Mldaic is dead. I don't really believe an a punitive afterlife but if the universe wants to cook one up for him I'd be fine with it.
