This is especially egregious as instead of funneling money to the vanity project of a right-wing assclown that has few if no technical merits whatsoever there’s so many deserving open source projects that could really benefit from donations to finance partial or full-time work on them.

@gloriouscow yeah but they somehow managed to avoid breaking it back when they introduces multi-monitor and HiDPI configurations which must have required much more intrusive changes. Also, it's not like any of these are new features. They're bringing back stuff that had been in the Windows shell for decades until they decided it wasn't hip enough. And last but not least it's one thing to break an internal beta and another to ship the breakage all the way to the release channel.

Saw someone post an unsourced image with "the Great Lakes' real names", so just a reminder that there are lots of Indigenous languages and the many different nations have called them different things at different times.

Also, in general but especially, as I understand, regarding Indigenous knowledge, it is important to say *who* you learned something from.

Here's a map of the Great Lakes area with place names in Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe), from the Decolonial Atlas, prepared by Charles Lippert and Jordan Engel: https://decolonialatlas.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/the-great-lakes-in-ojibwe-v2/ These lakes have additional names not given on the map itself but listed in the text; for example Lake Ontario is also called Gichi-zaaga’igan (Big Lake), and Lake Huron is also called Odaawaawi-gichigami (Odawa's Sea) and Gichi-aazhoogami-gichigami (Great Crosswaters Sea). Lippert also notes in comments, "The Anishinaabemowin on this map is shown written in 'Southern' Fiero-Nichols orthography, with more western 'Ojibwe' bias."

(Without getting specific enough to dox myself, I grew up near Anishinaabe communities and Anishinaabemowin is the language I don't know but can at least recognize, and which is often used here)

Can you believe that NetBSD 6.0.X shipped (in 2013) with broken non-blocking sockets and of course someone managed to run a modern libcurl on that and... yeps, got into trouble.

I had two of them, plugged my doodads in, and smelled magic smoke.

#scotland pals: anyone out there able to temp foster a parrot who's currently in the glasgow area? i have limited info, but here's bit:

'It's my partner's parrot.
His dad got him, then when he died 12 years ago, my parnter's been taking care of him. He is now getting evicted from his flat in Glasgow and struggling to find somewhere to host. The timeframe unfortunately is unclear. I'd say a couple of weeks at least 🤷‍♀️'
