Parking in front of the store to watch the midday milfs w/ no fucks to give bend over to load groceries.
@dimitribouniol @marcoarment Show me where I can find a talented person within an order of magnitude of the cost of even the most expensive claude subscription.
@callin @dimitribouniol Yes, the cost is pretty different. I can't hire a trustworthy programmer for $100/month.
Fable also isn't LIKE another human programmer. It's great at things I'm bad at, and bad at things I'm great at.
Another human programer would have a lot more overlap with my skillset, which I really don't need.
Oh fuck allllll the way off with this “electric vehicle owners aren’t paying their fair share” shit on road taxes. You know who isn’t paying their share? Billionaires and multimillionaires. Those fucking guys. Those guys spend absurd amounts of money to buy politicians just so they can pay less in taxes.
My state says I made an error on my taxes and owed some silly amount back. I just paid it. Right then. Why not? It goes to services we all use. The ultra-rich would fight that. Parasites…
Measles-linked deaths since RFK Jr became HHS Secretary now surpass those recorded in the previous 20 years combined.
Milo "ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances, gas stations, strip malls, intersections, and government buildings with on-the-spot deportation of anyone unable to prove they were legally in the United States." Yiannopoulos has been busted by ICE. The really odd sound you hear is me cackling like a manic.

Journalists report on the first AI-guided brain surgery.
Responsive journalists would figure out if it is an LLM or some other system, branded “ai.” This is important, as the general public shouldn't see this as a win for “ai” and trust is more because “ai” did an impressive and important thing.
And amazingly she's depressed about it, even though this is basically a licence to attend EPFL or UNIL or whatever.
She thinks she could have done better in both maths and arts but for me all I can think of is that if I had got into a school at the level of EPFL I would have been jumping up and down and screaming with joy.
I didn't try, but there you go with the hick experience of low expectations.
@spraoi remind her that test results aren't a fixed evaluation of her intrinsic worth. There's a lot of random variation -- the question order, the temperature in the room, what she ate that morning. And there's always an opportunity to improve those scores by studying at university!
Opened the Wikipedia page for Trademark and found this under the Usage section.
is there any running list of open-source, non-AI-using projects that could use someone to work on documentation? (or procedures to go about looking for such?) my guess is what i'm looking for would be on codeberg. but i've never worked on anything like that before, despite having some technical-ish writing experience, and it'd be fun to contribute if that would be helpful
I keep seeing the same lifecycle over and over again.
Phase one: We’re revolutionaries. We’re different. We have principles. We have an idea.
Phase two: We just need to change a couple of tiny things... you understand, we do need to make some money.
Phase three: Psst... let’s quietly change this too. No need to announce it. They trust us.
Phase four: Let’s add a little of whatever the current trend is. Just enough to get more attention. Everyone else is doing it anyway.
Phase five: Hey, this monetisation thing actually works. And now that we’re here, we could monetise a little more. It would be silly not to.
Phase six: Listen, my dear little insignificant user. I know what’s best for you. Give me your money, your data, your freedom, and please stop looking around.
You don’t need alternatives.
You have me.
You’re mine.
Let them regret making enemies of the many hackers who until now thought of themselves as non-political.
I bet Tom Jones is an absolute dick
Sorry. I'm sure he's fine. I've just had a long week.
@TheBreadmonkey 😹 actual lol 😆
Okay so, in all sincerity - I know a number of organizations have basically depended on stuff like Nitter/XCancel as an excuse to continue posting important information on X. Now that people without accounts are really locked out I hope we can actually put serious pressure on organizations to post information publicly.

I tried something new in the last few days: I built a #treesitter grammar for the FASTA file format!
https://jrhawley.ca/2026/04/19/tree-sitter-fasta
This was a fun learning experience and I'm quite happy with the result. I intentionally ignored "prior art" and built something for myself, so that I could see what kinds of questions and trade-offs I would need to grapple with.
If parsers, domain-specific languages, or bioinformatics are your interest, feel free to give this a try!
