A bubbling Betelgeuse ⭐️ 🫧

Taken with ALMA, this is one of the most detailed views yet of the surface of the iconic star Betelgeuse.

The star's surface is uneven and lumpy, with peaks and troughs originating from giant bubbles of hot gas rising from deep within the star to its surface.

J'ai croisé ces deux papillons blancs posés au sol en train de s'accoupler, les ailes ouvertes. Un endroit bien risqué pour leur survie mais il semble que ce soit la façon de faire de la plupart des papillons. Et ça dure longtemps car ils étaient encore là au retour.

Il s'agit de cabères virginales. Ce sont des papillons de nuit qui volent aussi en journée.

I second that suggestion. I might have a spare sealed one you can have, need to check when I get home (can't remember if it's TF1 or 2, 1 is only multiplayer)

My partner’s internet recently has been talking about how buddlejas are drought resistant. And this is true, as evidenced by the number in Cambridge that are growing from cracks in pavement and walls.

But, having previously tried to kill a buddleja, I think the fact that they are also largely resistant to weed killer, fire, chainsaws, and exorcism is perhaps more important information.

Due to ongoing disappointment with how infosec.exchange moderates racism (or doesn't, as the case may be), and a conversation with one of their moderators which very much left us disillusioned as to their capacity for taking racism seriously, we will be blocking that instance from mastodon.art in two weeks.

A bit late to the party but finally we hear from our teacher union. Sending sick children to school doesn't improve your attendance rate, it increases your number of sick children and staff. The Ministry of Education is well aware of this yet they still push for 100% attendance. Some schools even offer incentives for teachers and students. It's absolutely nonsensical and it has to stop!
Instead of attendance pressure we need #CleanAir in schools and workplaces, and public health messages on the spread of airborne illnesses. We know all this, we have all the tools! We need government action now!
