HYPERBLAM lets you design sounds and create music declaratively. It's devoid of AI, hosted on git.gay, and the most fun you'll ever have with HTML.
I'm looking for a good, modern tutorial for C++. Something that _does_ mention "this is how it was done in the past", allowing me to understand older code, but also says "we don't do that anymore; the recommended way is now this".
I'm a seasoned programmer, I don't need an introduction into programming itself. But I find myself increasingly wading through C++ and C code for microcontrollers, and my university C knowledge isn't particularly helpful.
(Don't recommend Rust please, it won't help.)
Fascinating to see how many folks think these are identical.
I remember once being called a "lumper" in school—trying to make the case that many different categories were in fact indistinct, thereby rendering the discussions of differences moot. This is in contrast to "sorters," who prefer to highlight differences.
I can see how these two things look similar, but I also think it would be imprudent to regard all the tools of oppression without distinction.
Or perhaps y'all think one is a subclass of the other? Are LLMs just gambling? I find that a tad reductive, if I'm honest.
I guess I turned into a sorter with time.
@mttaggart I think that our problems with llms are problems at all because of gambling - this wouldn't have gotten so big if a certain group of people weren't so ready to bet the farm on its success

"Good for beginners" is also very subjective. I started my knitting journey with Prym ergonomic needles. I didn't like them at all. They are probably great for other people, though. No matter the skill level. After some trial and error I found the best tool for me are Addi metal needles. Slippery as hell and the opposite of what's usually recommended to beginners. But exactly right for me.
@spinni81 @kerravonsen I had exactly the opposite experience: I started with aluminum needles because that's what was available. Switching to bamboo was a strict upgrade, and wood even more so. Now I have arthritis in my knuckles, and even high quality metal needles are absolute hell to work with. I will always recommend wooden needles.
It also showed that X serves more ragebait to people who say they are Democrats, although the exact reason for that is unclear.

@midide Es ging den fossilen Lobbyfirmen nie um den Markt, ganz im Gegenteil. Die wollten immer nur den Markt beherrschen, sich aber nie vom ihm beherrschen lassen.
Je eher all diese Firmen den Bach runter gehen, um so besser für uns alle.

@urlyman (I spend most of my time in places where the traffic considers lane markers a loose and impractical ideal, and sometimes drives on the sidewalks. Keeping an eye out even when there isn't an intersection is fairly essential.)
