I had one pair of orangey red socks with cats on them.
I pulled that pair out of the dryer and balled them up.
Several folded shirts later, I pulled another pair out of the dryer...
Then a third pair... Should I risk washing these again? I don't want to breed them if they're invasive.
@anomalocarididae Infinite sock glitch! 🧦🧦
Services continue to report a wave of automated account creation using the naming pattern "bp" followed by a series of random alphanumerics, eg "bpc7463204e397374e" or "bpde9af0166700f555".
To date almost all accounts are created using an email address at the domains:
docomo.ne.jp
ezweb.ne.jp
and to a lesser degree:
yahoo.co.jp
au.com
Requiring approval for accounts using these email domains during this attack will severely minimise your spam account review activity.
@iftas blocked some email domains. Thanks for the heads up!

The right-click behavior you're describing for NeXT was pretty common by about 1992, as were common menu actions. There were of course still inconsistencies (where are settings? what's the diff between settings & configuration? etc), but by mid-90s, CUA had inspired enough consistency that I was able to teach my intro to tech students at a small college to look for those parallels in new applications.
That's degraded someone in years since.

Really? I'm not aware of any systems except NeXTSTEP and RiscOS that made the app menu appear with a mouse click. Most docked it into the window or screen. Do you have some other examples? I don't remember what the Amiga did.

A couple of implications:
declare-handler: it's replaced with with script, and is tied to http-server / haproxy-spoa-server.Currently, the module and the script must use the same language. But that limitation may end up lifted at some point, in which case module will grow a language=$foo attribute.
I'm also entertaining the idea of merging all the *-server stuff into a single server:
server main protocol=http {
// former http-server configuration here
}
server metrics protocol=prometheus {
// former prometheus-server config here
}
server spoa protocol=haproxy-spoa {
// you know the droll
}
Simplifies the vocabulary, and the internal structures too.
when I joined fedi I felt very out of place and intimidated because I felt there are all these smart people here who wouldn't want to talk to me
but then I stopped the pity party and got to work. soon enough, I found their Achilles' heel
one meow later, any Fedizen I want under my control, is then under my unbreakable spell
so, if you want something in life, quit feeling sorry for yourself and find a way in. dont let the fact that you dont know how to write code stop you from finding a way in
@tante I really don't understand what exactly the plan was there. Or why they thought it would work or why anyone signing their names to it was a good idea.
@mhoye they thought bluesky was "a movement" and wanted to give Cory Doctorow permission to use it as multiplier.
@mavu @futurebird @x44203 @RogerBW
A lot of people were saying this since the '90s, but there were always vested interests for whom an efficient micropayment system would have undermined their business. There were even multiple attempts to create one.

New: A group of bipartisan lawmakers have asked the Commerce Dept. to effectively ban three hack-for-hire firms, which have been accused of breaking into computers and inboxes to sway litigation, while also using the courts to censor U.S. reporting.

Reminder: A malevolent AI running wild is not a different threat model than the one that already exists in the world today.
This is true for all of the world's people with the exception of like 100 dudes.🤷🏿♂️
Was wondering the same. If it is open source, it is candidate for inclusion on the delightful fediverse curated lists..

The theory that people who are rich are smarter than everyone else doesn't quite make up this gap. And I think it's reasonable to question that theory.
But even assuming it were true money seeking a place to be invested just isn't doing the same work to shape the economy as money spent on products. In a way, this money is along for the ride, depending on those consumer choices to highlight the best places to park. Freeloading.
@futurebird My theory is that one rich person looking around and trying to justify how they earned their money, comes up with the idea that they're smart. And that kind of works until they start trying to apply their knowledge to areas outside their expertise. (Which nowadays doesn't take very long.)
But multiple rich people looking around and trying to justify how they earned their money, look at themselves and say, "what do we have in common?" And the answer is that they are white men. At that point there's no attempt to apply smarts to anything they do. It's all about protecting the white race.
The few times I have attempted to make stock decisions based on what I knew about the actual state of the company, I failed miserably.
As far as I can tell, at this point all stocks are meme stocks; running entirely on belief systems.
