I discovered a new SCP last month. It's my dryer. It keeps spawning new socks instead of losing them.
@anomalocarididae Infinite sock glitch! 🧦🧦
@catsalad @anomalocarididae Pairs of socks turn into single socks. The number of socks in the machine does not change; the same number of socks come out as went in, just they are no longer pair-able.
This is not a reversible process. If you put unpaired socks into the wash, they do not re-pair. Instead, socks from *outside the machine* are pulled through a space-time vortex into the machine, and metamorphose into tissues, which disintegrate, covering all clothing (especially black clothing) with little white specks. Due to a combination of Schrödinger and Heisenberg effects, no sock you are watching will ever be taken, but you have to blink...
Attempts to avoid the effects of these processes by purchasing all-identical socks has been proven not to work. Pairing is not just colours and patterns, it is also size and style, and these will change if colour and pattern are not variable.
Thus eventually you have no paired socks.
I had one pair of orangey red socks with cats on them.
I pulled that pair out of the dryer and balled them up.
Several folded shirts later, I pulled another pair out of the dryer...
Then a third pair... Should I risk washing these again? I don't want to breed them if they're invasive.
