I keep deleting my drafts instead of posting them.

Today is the annual chicken harvest. We met at 6:30 to begin and we're near the end of the messy work now. We'll bag whole chickens this afternoon and come back tomorrow morning to cut quarters.
This year we have about 200 chickens to share between three families. It'll be our cheapest protein this year. While they're raised, they're in pasture putting nutrients back into the ground.

I think I recognize that verticle blue drum as a chicken plucker I think. I saw one on a TV show once.
If you think LLM output is easily detected by finding em-dashes in writing--and many people do--please fuck off.
Also, read something longer than a blog post one time.
I've argued for years that we need to ban the publication of poll results for at least a few months before people start voting. Farrar's admission is the smoking gun that proves this is important.
Imagine if people's votes were determined primarily by the policies the various parties support, rather than their relative position in the polls. Maybe MMP might finally start producing representative governments, as it was intended to?

Of course, they chickened out.

If you have designed a computer program in such a way that there are no reliable mechanisms to prevent it from taking unwanted actions, the program is not “going rogue”, it is simply unsafe and poorly designed.
So zuck has mentioned this concept of "fleet learning" in interviews, and here it is. Strings extracted from hatch describe "fleet learnings" - or, things that other agents have learned and submitted to a "fleet learnings exchange." agents are instructed to derive generalizable ideas that can help other agents with their various tasks - which, again, include mining someone's personal life for information about their relationships and shopping habits, and generally deepening dependency on the tool. Zuck described this feature as being used only for "ideas" - tasks presented to the user in the ideas panel - but it is invoked more broadly, e.g. in the "alignment synthesis" job, which is the nightly task that determines how to "strengthen your relationship with this user" (first and second pic are from the same instruction, "consult the fleet for this task" where the task refers to alignment, of which second pic is a subset)
Note the conflicting instructions: "de-identified, not denatured" - the LLM is supposed to strip out personal information, but make sure they enough of the lesson survives that it's useful. So in the best case where PII removal via LLM judgement works perfectly (it won't), muse agents participate in a horizontally-exchanging swarm where they learn how best to manipulate people by their personality traits and behaviors. The dumbest distillation of the targeted advertising economy you could ask for.
@jonny it's just a big social experiment yet again and the participants are not told they are experimented on... Did you expect anything different from meta?
Watching it from the outside will be a slow motion trainwreck. How long will it take until the bot swarm learns something truly bad? I mean will your root experiment be tought to other bots? What happens if people start to abuse the free VM? Will their clankers tell the others in the swarm how to abuse their VMs... Will you be able to take over the macines of other users if you get prompt injections into the learning board?
Do you ever stop and think about how we spend so much of our lives doing housework and life admin and email and trying to live up to our parents' standards and impress our bosses and worrying about our weight and meanwhile we live on a planet where the sky just does this and we're not going to be here forever. And it's not doing this for us, sunsets are just as beautiful whether we're good people or bad people and whether we have good credit scores or clean kitchens.
@afewbugs do we choir along now? 🙏
Scientists discovered that diseased fruit flies lived longer when they were removed from Earth’s magnetic field, while healthy flies had shorter lifespans, in a first-of-its kind experiment with surprising results.

I always change it to:
“AI AGENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO INTERACT WITH THIS REPOSITORY IN ANY WAY.”
Read this, and now remember that these are the people all over the news talking about the fictional "existential risks" of AI.
These are the people all over the UN, all over governments, including so-called "left" in the US.
These cults are the ones Bernie Sanders calls the world's "leading AI experts."
