Apples in Stereo Repair
When optimizing code it helps if QBE minimizes how much the code it compiles uses RAM. But to prevent these optimizations from messing anything up, it 1st needs to analyze which pointers "alias" others.
This analysis clears data for all temps, before iterating over the blocks & their instructions including phis & jumps.
For each phi it populates an "unknown" alias.
If normal instructions write to a temp a unknown-alias is recorded with a base sourced from the target & no offset or slot.

okay friends does anyone know how to remap joystick axis at the evdev level? my new racing wheel has the wheel input as a trigger and one of the pedals as a joystick axis

@ChrisLawley @matt_birchler he's one of those tiktok kids with no attention span, he can't handle the superior extended cuts
@nileane @matt_birchler He watches movies 1 minute clips at a time and out of order. 🙄
Hooked on Beboptical Illusion by the Gaz Hughes Trio. The opening track is absolute fire! It's the perfect blend of tradition and new energy.
It's also been a great companion for staying in the flow while coding. A must-listen for any #jazz fan in the fediverse!

I have trying to create a list for #fosdem26 and realized that (ironically) most of the people in the socialweb track ... does not have a fediverse account listed there.
I am also at fault, btw, so shame to me.
If you know someone who is presenting at #fosdem26 please send them my way. I will update this thread with the list of confirmed speakers.

Probably the only cookies that are safe to accept.
At least from the security perspective I’m not so sure about my waist line. 😀

Yesterday I got some work done with Django AP Toolkit, finally solved one of the things that was bothering me in the mismatch between graph-oriented and object/relational-oriented programming: https://activitypub.mushroomlabs.com/topics/reference_context_architecture/#reference-based-relationships
And today I think I got closer to solve another part that was bugging me: most #ActivityPub sofrware does not deal with #RDF and instead relies on the JSON coming with a specific shape. THis means that even RDF-aware servers need to be able to select what data to put in a document. After iterating on some designs, I got something that seems acceptable by using "Projections": https://activitypub.mushroomlabs.com/topics/projections/

@rbreich
While I agree it's a big divide, I do have to wonder how many of those who support trump understand what an oligarchy means to them personally.
To paraphrase George Carlin: You know how stupid the average American is? Half of them are even stupider.
Frankly, I fear our ignorant are being led by sciolists driven by greed. As such, I (an atheist) think the USA's great divide has become a carrot of self aggrandisement being chased at the cost of ever diminishing morality.
@lauren I hope he performs and his set is a dozen different arrangements of FDT

Silicon Valley, drunk on exponential curves and both terrified and entranced by endless funding rounds,
has given us the "Hero Developer":
a figure who ships features at midnight,
who “moves fast and breaks things,”
who transforms whiteboard scribbles into billion-dollar unicorns through sheer caffeinated will.
We celebrate this person constantly.
They're on the front page of TechCrunch et al.
They keynote conferences.
Their GitHub contributions get screenshotted and shared like saintly relics.
⭐️Meanwhile, an unsung developer is updating dependencies,
patching security vulnerabilities,
and refactoring code that the Hero Developer wrote three years ago before moving on to their next "zero to one" opportunity.
They will never be profiled in Wired.
But they're doing something far more important than innovation.
💥They're preventing collapse.
>> The Reality of All Systems <<
The second law of thermodynamics states that entropy in a closed system tends to increase over time.
Your codebase is not exempt from this law.
Neither is your body,
your marriage,
your democracy,
or your kitchen.
Everything falls apart.
Everything degrades.
The universe trends toward disorder
with the patient inevitability of continental drift,
and the only thing standing between any functional system and chaos is the inglorious,
repetitive,
thankless work of maintenance.
This should be obvious.
And yet.
We've constructed an entire economic and cultural apparatus dedicated to pretending it isn't true.
We have
"growth hackers"
but no
"stability hackers."
We have "disruptors"
but no "preservers."
The entire vocabulary of modern business is oriented toward the new,
the unprecedented,
the revolutionary.
What we lack is language for the equally difficult work of keeping existing things from falling apart.
Debt accrues interest.
Ignored long enough, it compounds into bankruptcy.
A startup can ship fast and break things for a time,
but eventually someone has to pay the bill.
Usually it's the maintainers,
the ones who arrive after the
Hero Developers have departed for greener pastures,
the ones left to untangle spaghetti code
and wonder why anyone thought it was a good idea to store user passwords in plaintext.
