@agt Back when I was a student employee at my university's two public radio stations they had a computer used for fundraising right in the lobby. Running Knoppix from a CD was how I was able to get on the web and IRC without leaving a trace, and gave me a Linux environment (which I preferred over the WIndows one the computer ran). It took a bit for the disc to load, but the fun certainly began after that.
It was also how I experienced fluxbox and Xfce version 3. This was back when Xfce was still an imitation of CDE, before they decided to imitate GNOME instead.
It was a magical time.
