Spotify, already the bane of many podcasters’ existence, has decided to amp things up: Now it’s scouring podcasts to see if any infringe on “literary content.” It’s already flagged one podcast I host, which reviews/critiques an author’s books one by one, for “infringing” on the book. This is dire.

I disagree on that last one "bend in creative ways". A native speaker can play with the language in ways thay sound good in a way that someone formally trained will not have the ear for. I can often tell the difference between English written by different non-native speakers, such as a German or Japanese native, by the eay they bend English in different grammatical but oddly sounding ways.

I agree with @a_cubed I spent two years trying to write fiction in English (as it's my main language of expression these days, I teach it, I've been blogging in English for years and all that). Biggest writer block I have ever had, because I couldn't "feel" the language the way I do with French, and I second-guessed every "creative bending" because I had no idea how it'd sound and feel for a native speaker.
Last Spring, I said screw it, I'm back at writing in French, and ⤵️

@randahl I feel this. I am a farmer and have to put up with trump flags, trump hats and trump stickers on vehicles every time I go to the farm. Apparently he was going to be “good on the pocket book." I noticed recently that everyone took their gear down... Priorities.

Football story. I played flag football in high school. When I got to university I put pads on for the first time. Grabbing the first helmet that fit, I had no clue that it was a quarterback helmet. Its face mask was a single bar.
I started on the offensive line. The first snap the d lineman opposite of me punched me in the face, cutting me below my eye. Next snap he punched me again, bloody nose. Next snap he punched me again, cutting me above the other eye. My jersey was a bloody mess.
The next offensive snap I stepped aside and as he went by I grabbed his facemask and wrenched his head back and forth for about ten yards. I got a fifteen yard penalty but he never punched me again.
I got a proper helmet next game.

@sundogplanets yeaaaah I would not respond to that email ever… it says it’s an Ai agent and I would instead probably go contact the people (actual people) who are working on papers or anyone named in the email to rectify this if at all… but this is just my humble opinion 😹
