The BepiColombo spacecraft just broke in two. In December, the remainder will split in two again.
It's all part of the elaborate preparations for making the best-ever observations of the enigmatic planet Mercury.

#Fedilab updates will no longer reach Google Play store. What's your position:
F-Droid was and is my preferred way to install apps. Only use aurorastore for apps not available elsewhere like (blergh) WhatsApp.

The sad truth is: there are racists, religious fanatics, and bigots in every generation.
Good news is there are also antiracists, spiritual people, ethical atheists, and nice people in every generation too.
@JackMexa4 @Anomnomnomaly @anominominominous
Agreed. Feel like it is a mistake to make these age demographic generalizations. Some of the hardest working progressives are elderly, and some real shitbird fascists are young and vica versa. Good folks fighting for a better kinder future just need to link arms across age, sex and racial lines. We are all stronger together.

I don't know who I am.
Tomorrow morning, the polling places open in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt for their state elections.
The blue line at the top of this polling chat is Putin's favorites, the far right populists of the AfD party.
Deeply unserious, deeply corrupt, and has deep ties to Russia — but they offer a normalization of racism, and apparently that is what voters want.
If they win tomorrow, I will not spend a single euro in Saxony-Anhalt for as long as their fascist shadow hangs over this state.
Man, I don't even have a true self. I just do stuff.

The colours are turning.
The 2026 #bhyvecon during @EuroBSDCon is up:
See you there!
Oh thank good—wait.

“This is probably one of the larger, if not the largest, climate events—aside from long-term warming, which really isn’t a singular event—that anybody alive is potentially ever experiencing,” #ElNino
@lauren Disagree. TechBro exploitation won't go away if we don't resist. We're talking kind of Internet hygiene. Start w/ adblocking and uBlock Origin. Just a browser extension. Work your way up to DNS-based filtering.
I neither consider myself extremely dedicated and single-minded. And it's not just techie, but also classic boycott, avoid and resist: don't use their services, block 'em, don't buy from Amazon.
I was techie enough to set up Pi-hole in my network. You'll learn while you go. Since years, it's just running. But you have to complement tech w/ personal attitude. Nothing most of us cannot learn. Even not very expensive - it' all FOSS, and the majority of expenses is now donations to the projects I have adopted.
Just don't do GOOGLE (and other digital parasites).
@dazzr I stand by my analysis. Utterly impractical for nontechie users who are just trying to get the basic stuff to work to pay their bills and deal with email. Most have no understanding beyond defaults and often get locked out due to such lack of knowledge -- which isn't their fault. I deal with them all the time. They don't even want to set up 2sv. They use the machines as they get them and have no interest in changes. There are always exceptions, but the general rule holds. Of course, whatever works for you is great for you.
You want to know why Gen X and Millenials are so nostalgic for the recent past and angry at the world today.
It's because we got a glimpse at a world of promise... a world that wasn't controlled by the dumbest, most selfish, greedy, narcissistic people on the planet.
We were worried about things like the giant fucking hole in ozone layer... and smart people got together and solved the fucking problem... It gave us hope, it promised a better tomorrow.
Now we remember that... and look at what's been done... and we mourn the loss of that hope, that promise... that future.
Let's play Spot the Difference.
I'm certain I made this shape in #Shapez2 correctly, but the validator still says it's wrong. What am I missing?
Edit: Probably not the black outlines; I don't know how I'd add those.
Also I've looked this up and all the hints I've seen for this level are for the shape after this one in the sequence, so *somebody* must be getting it right.
Edit 2: we got it! @Canageek noticed the bottom purple shouldn't be two-tone (should be a circle segment, not a crystal).
@WizardOfDocs @Canageek Nice catch, I'd have been confused myself! The shape inspector does give it the C code instead of lowercase c.
"So in summary: using AI for coding led to depression, apathy, existential dread, and worse software. Not good. Add on top of that the negative environmental, community, and economic impacts of AI, and it became extremely apparent to me that something's gotta change."
@timnitGebru I'm a hardware engineer. I write a lot of software in support of my work. I also write a lot of hdl code and software for processors embedded in FPGAs.
I'm about nine months into what seems to be the same path this post describes. However I don't chat with the thing or ask for medical advice.
I am seriously contemplating abandoning it entirely as well. Few of my colleagues really use it heavily so I don't think I would risk my job.
I want to find more articles like this.
