I know I’m not the only one, but..

If you know of a company that needs a very senior developer and won’t force them to use AI for literally every single thing, I’d love to hear about it.

I am literally miserable where I am. I don’t care what you’re building, what language, it doesn’t matter.

I’ve got production experience with everything from c# to _ocaml_. I also have a background in information security (what folks seem to want to call “cyber” today).

I’ve written ci/cd, kernel modules, init systems, web apps, android, iOS and windows phone, I’ve hand written soap envelopes.

I know how to use and apply AI, for whatever little that is worth. I strongly believe that we are using AI in too many places, and far too liberally. That said, I have pre-LLM experience with machine learning, particularly with applying the work of very smart data scientists to very real business problems.

I even have an active clearance, though I just want to be done with the fed/mil space.

I’m open to working for any company anywhere in the world, so long as I don’t have to drive more than 60 minutes each way, or am remote, or if they’re willing to pay to help me move.

I want to be useful again. I want to make things again. Someone please save me.

Edit: for the record, the commute bit is the part I’m most flexible on. For the right job I’ll happily ride a train or sit in a car for longer. If you’re in or near the DC area, we’re probably close enough in most cases.

It's just fucking wild to me that ICE has a specific, designated concentration camp for children they've raped who become pregnant and the entire country isn't tearing it down.

I think this is why the SocialCG are working on ways to do E2EE group chat on top of ActivityPub. If this works out, we'll be able to log into a publishing app and a separate private chat app, using the same AP account. Rather than always mashing the 2 use cases together in one app.
