This is exactly right. Unfortunately. Sociopaths (narcissists, psychopaths, and Machiavellians in any combo of these Dark Triad traits) are sadistic. They enjoy the pain of others, and they believe they should own and control everything and everyone.

Oddly enough, this is what 'primitive' tribes used to do: kill the sociopaths. We promote them to the highest positions of power.

Those men executing children and mothers are sociopaths. The Americans chose a sociopath as a leader, so they're unlikely to help. Europe is threatened by a Russian sociopath. China is ruled by a sociopath. We 99% wake up and rise up or it's over. We're over.

While I 💯 agree, two things to keep in mind:

1. 21% of CEOs are sociopaths.
2. Executives make decisions every single day that are bad for people, the environment, democracy, etc. in favour of making a bit more profit.
