@kim's massive chore PR to remove #GoToSocial's dependency on Gin got squerged a while ago: https://codeberg.org/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/pulls/4847
Gin was useful for a while when GtS was in its infancy cuz Go didn't have decent http routing stuff in the standard library back then. But now it does! And not only that, but Gin started accepting LLM contributions recently, so it clearly had to go 🤢
We'll keep monitoring + trying to remove dependencies on "ai"-happy code as we go along; and, as always, we will continue to forbid any LLM-based contributions to GtS itself, because ew, ick, yikes, gross.

Yorhel (🕯️) ran Exim and was happy with it. IIRC when asked him why, he said it had a very intuitive iptables-like config format. Compared to postfix's sea of mysterious variables and hidden processing pipelines, this sounded very good, but I never got around yo trying it.
@wolf480pl fun tidbit: one of my first jobs was being a sysadmin for a hungarian isp. We ran Exim, it was nice.
I don't particularly care about how it is configured1, and am happy with my current postfix setup - it's been serving me well for almost a decade now. I am mostly looking at switching from an ethical/anti-slop PoV: exim has an amti-llm policy, postfix does not. I have seen too many respectable hackers descend into LLMs in retirement, so... I'd switch out of precaution. Everything else is secondary.

So let me get this straight…
Putin wages a war in Europe. That forces Europe to buy weapons from the US. Trump ads a 10 percent markup on those weapons to fill his coffers. He then spends money on advancing groups in Europe that are pro Putin. In short: The US is actively fighting against the democratic world by pushing the Putin agenda in countries fighting the Putin agenda.

That's awesome. We have sort of gone the other direction of "design away shared objects and declare ordering and dependencies directly" but I want to see this thing anyway
@jonny I use it in two things I've done in rust. One is collecting streaming data from a firehose, occasionally I pass a reference to another thread that snapshots the latest computed state to disk. The other is my mailreader, which can be loading millions (I've tested) of messages in the background and every once in a while passes the list out to the view thread, it's so slick
