I hope this email finds you lying very still in your bed, and looking surprisingly healthier than you looked the night before.

Confused by “AI”? Prof Bender bursts the bubbles.
It was brought to my attention that Real Hack History, a youtube channel, has been uploading documents, audio and video related to hacking history to the Internet Archive and they deserve a little collection. I'm making them for them now but you can look at their excellent uploads immediately.
Really good stuff. Really well sourced.
@textfiles They’re also on here as @realhackhistory love what they share, great in depth coverage of hacking history.
My kinda-sorta, back-of-the envelope number is that one borrowing of an ebook costs the library system on the order of five or ten times as much as one borrowing of the physical book.
A common contract for an ebook via Libby is a two-year rental that allows 26 circs, for—depending—something approaching a hundred bucks. That’s a few dollars per circ.
Hardback books cost about a third that much and circulate many more times. Probably tens of cents per circ or better.
Libby Isn't Your Library. It's a Private Equity Asset.
https://unhingedlibrarian.com/research/who-owns-libby/
I went to do a search on DuckDuckGo, and it displayed a message that it had blocked 72 tracking attempts from Libby over the past hour.
Which had me wondering: who owns this app???
OverDrive owns Libby. And OverDrive is owned by KKR, the same private-equity firm that owns Simon & Schuster.
Ideally, incubation is +25 per cycle, so any egg above 75 should have this cycle. But I'm on one cook right now, and that cook gets to sleep, so there's a window where an egg hatches this turn but the barbecue doesn't appear until next turn.
@vocumsineratio You won't believe me, but this afternoon I was thinking, "I wonder how Danil's experiments are going?"
oops, i cloned another sound card! this is the Beavis Ultrasound, an open source clone of the Gravis Ultrasound PnP.
yes, i know there are already clones of this card, but mine provides the full schematic and matches the original board layout.
Epstein survivor sisters say NO to Todd Blanche. Change is in our hands. Let’s act now. #Congress must reject criminal Todd Blanche.
NYT reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan reported that Todd Blanche was in a White House Situation Room meeting on EpsteinFiles (the July 17 meeting featured others including JD Vance and Susie Wiles, with Pam Bondi and Kash Patel joining) on how to suppress the rape trafficking ring #Epstein Files.
“1,200+ former DOJ employees” figure comes from a letter by Justice Connection urging #Senate Judiciary Committee members to reject Todd Blanche's nomination for US Attorney General.

@farah Wait until we need to do *3*-factor authentication!
@c_dan4th as my ancestors would say "Tawba! Tawba!"
(Irrelevant aside: We got that Toyota truck, and drove it until the floor rusted out so bad that even the *corrupt* gas station wouldn't let it pass inspection anymore. 400k miles on that engine, still hummed like a top, but on rainy days our clothes would get completely soaked if we drove through puddles.)
(When the inspection guy declines the bribe, it's time to let a vehicle go. He was like, "Noooooo, no, sorry, no can do. That is *really* dangerous."
We kept it for another couple years as an illegal farm license truck.
Great fucking truck.)
Coral island has been acquired!! Hope it runs on this ancient machine
@farah Waaahooo!
