Wat een dag!!!!
Staatssecretaris Digitale Zaken verbiedt verkoop aan Solvinity, AOW-plannen gaan niet door, en Landmacht stopt tijdelijk met oefeningen met explosieven vanwege brandgevaar.
I can’t remember who it was here who recommended Maxwell J Roberts’ Underground Maps Unravelled, but it made for a fascinating read over the long weekend. I enjoyed the alternative versions of the London Underground map, and also the analysis of how other cities’ network topology (Paris) or service patterns (New York) mean that the rules for the London Underground map wouldn’t work for them.
@acka47 super, danke
Y’a la CNIL. Et y’a l’APD/GBA.

We call our representatives to support #FreeSoftware in public administrations because:
🔸We need software that fosters the sharing of good ideas & solutions
🔹We need software that guarantees freedom of choice, access, & competition
🔸We need software that helps public administrations regain full control of their critical digital infrastructure
#Free Software allows public administrations to become digitally sovereign!

While i agree in principal, IMHO it is rather nonsensical to demand this in general.
Having worked for universities in the past, i recall plenty of software of no value at all to anbody else (neither for use nor study). And i don't think anybody in their right mind would be willing to publish software today that was closed to the public until yesterday.
And let's not forget the overhead involved: Simply throwing code out into the wild usually doesn't help anybody; Preparing a software-package for publication and distribution is work too.
Still, i am certain there's more than enough interesting stuff that actually could and should be published.

Je bois du petit lait : Audi rouge vif sport (essence) garée sur des places de voitures électriques.
De travers, en prenant deux places.
Et à côté, attendant patiemment, les flics.
@sebsauvage
Tant c'est un pote à eux et ils viennent demander combien il tape.
@Vivaldi Honestly I am close to delete Vivaldi from all my systems. EVERY F*CKING DAY I get this annoying pop up that I have to install a new version. EVERY DAY. That's so annoying and it disturbs the user experience.
Try to release after a decent sprint cycle, but just NOT every day.
@teenstarlets that's weird and not something I've seen reported anywhere else. Have you sent us a bug report before? If not, it would be great if you could, so the appropriate devs can take a look (https://vivaldi.com/bugreport). Apologies!
The feature creep on this project is substantial. I thought "Maybe I can add current/voltage monitoring of this solar setup and log it all via MQTT".
Now I'm rewriting a poorly written arduino library...
this is going to end in shark attacks, i just know it.
Dear people living in Japan and/or knowing more about plants than me...
One thing I love here is when old people giving you random things (usually food)... Except that usually they know what they're giving you.
This afternoon, one of the old ladies living in my neighborhood gave me these except that when I asked her what it was, she had no idea, she didn't even know if it was edible, she just had a bunch and felt like giving me some.
Do any of you know what those could be?
@David I'm going with unripe peaches

Dieses Foto von Donald Trumps Mutter sieht aus wie eine Figur in einem Film über Trumps Leben, in dem Trump alle Rollen spielt.
Euch feine Traeume heute Nacht 😈
@pallenberg Wäh. Und tatsächlich kein KI-Fake ;-)

I generally think people who are way younger or way older than me are a lot more interesting than people my same age.
I wonder if maybe that's weird, until I remember I've *always* felt like this.
When I was a teenager, I had good friends twice my age.
I took to being a dad like a duck to water because I think children are *amazing* and on average communicate and behave quite well.
I like meeting people in their 60s & 70s and listening to their stories.
Multi-generational environments ROCK!
@thirstybear@agilodon.social @jay_peper@chaos.social Hmm. My turn to be on the "other" side: to claim something is true in a formal mathematical sense while not holding complete information seems straight up incorrect to me, even though I have no issue with it being used for "best guess with the information available" in general conversation.
The dutchies have a centralized identity that you are using to basically interact with everything government. That contains pensions and health related issues.
This is called DigID. It is run by a company called Solvinity an was was supposed to be taken over by a U.S. company called Kyndry.
The dutch cabinet (= government) has now blocked this takeover.
I think the topic of souvernty is slowly landing in the right heads. I guess also ... thank you @bert_hubert 🙂
Life is tough but so are you.

In a nutshell, the current fash is basically white men freaking out about losing their elevated status.
Such small people, such tiny minds.

New mathematical model suggests global population crash by 2064
https://phys.org/news/2026-05-mathematical-global-population.html
@JSMuellerRoemer @andreas Example: The C standard defines how function calls work, and declares that recursive function calls are valid. However, it says nothing about maximum recursion depth. Not even to say it's implementation defined. It is simply not mentioned, anywhere.
This means that platforms are free to implement any maximum recursion depth they wish, and they would still be compliant implementations. Further, exceeding this maximum may be legally declared UB. Implementations are not required to document any of this either.
The result is that, for example, GCC considers potential (but unproven) infinite recursion as unreachable UB.
