All he has done is reduce the US aid to Ukraine to $0 and lift sanctions on Russia.
If there was a Nobel War Prize, Trump would win it.
@randahl I think the Nobel committee would agree with me, that you have to actually win a war, or at least have an achievable goal, to get a prize for being good at wars.

Remember #Discord introduced #Xbox Game Pass 'basic' as a reward for Nitro? I gave it a shot tonight.
You have to install the Xbox app/launcher that also scans all the games you have installed from other stores, including #Steam. Ok, fine (TBC: No, not really).
But the #GamePass section is nothing but a bunch of upsell sections. AFAICT from about 5 minutes of poking around, there is no way to view the library of "50+" games you can play on the 'basic' plan. It's just upsell after upsell and tricking you into the Popular section of paid and more upsell games.

@GeePawHill I recently tried to watch that after my most recent Orphan Black binge, but I started it on a heavy ADHD day and couldn't get into it.
It just didn't grab me like Orphan Black, but I'd love to know if you think it's worth trying again!

@burnoutqueen i would very much accept that there are probably people who misuse whitey on the moon for anti-intellectual purposes. i don't believe scott-heron meant it that way. i think all fields of science can incorporate an understanding of how these incentives bias their research outputs (i mentioned cancer and medicine elsewhere).
as you said, science is twisted by a genocidal state to serve its own ends. outside of that maelstrom of evil, science can avoid being twisted in this way.
@hipsterelectron as for me, I do not intend to use science for evil, I intend to use physics to construct an ab initio approach to chemistry, and by extension biology.
I can see how that could be confusing.

@burnoutqueen scott-heron did not excoriate racism more generally. he did not even excoriate the local government. he said his sister nelle contracted a mysterious ailment that couldn't be fixed. he identified medicine (the result of science) to contrast to aerospace propulsion, computing, radio, everything needed to land on the moon. in focusing on the moon as representing science more generally, i believe you've failed to perceive that scott-heron indicted scientific incentives pretty specifically.

@jpoesen You can install apps without a GG account, effectively anonymously also. It is to the Play store what DuckDuckGo is to Bing etc

I personally tend to think this should be left to other platforms. Mastodon is good at offering a place where you can #toot.
Other platforms may offer other "roles" for people to play; friends, or colleagues, or connection types we haven't thought of enabling yet.
By choosing a set of roles, a platform sets the boundaries for a particular culture to develop. The UX should facilitate that culture, in terms of functionality and vibe.
@DePemig At this point I would like to continue what you started in your post and talk about what the benefits of of mutuals are versus the benefits of friends I don't think these are fully articulated and so once we know kind of what you get with these it helps motivate the discussion so I'm not going to answer your question but say we should talk more :-)
