Fucking-AI-ass posts from Cloudflare and GitLab 🤮
The UK government is so deep on generative AI it’s using chatbots to write laws. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke with Will Dunn to discuss why the UK has gone so hard on AI and the many risks created by its AI dependence.

Remaining vigilant about cognitive debt and atrophy.
<- we could be more general and just say "AI is a trap". Even truer.

@halcy the highest spec x86 machine I have access to is an ROG Ally and it’s fine for most games that don’t expect I will use FSR to get a viable frame rate, so 8gb is kinda fine? but it doesn’t scale to modern AAA games
A cheese experiment:
extra-dry chevre balls rolled in spices (sage, bay leaves, fennel, juniper) and stuck into olive oil and garlic. Will find out if it's amazing in a few days.
@sundogplanets

You’re probably real tired of these same-same photos but I am still working on the book (https://camendesign.com/nomad) despite less crowing about it. It is very nose-to-the-grindwheel stuff and abating the distractions is paramount to getting anything done, which is why this 25 year old AA-powered palmtop slams your average Android tablet to the floor.
@Kroc Bring moar photos.

My column last week about the WhatCable app, which tells you what each USB-C cable plugged into your Mac can do, now has a Pro tier, adding some very cool diagnostics and more. £4.99, one-time fee.
... "the label 'Big X, as in Big Tobacco, Big Oil, Bitg Pharma and Big Tech, suggests that society does not prepend the label "Big" with a capital "B" to an industry our of respect or administration. It does it out of loathing and fear -- and in preparation for battle"
great talks! except.. the slides are over 56 MB and crashed my mobile phone 😮
@cstross I suppose if you are depicting an incorporeal being who has gained a body then the first experience of a bowel movement might be relevant.
@PilotMoonDog That qualifies as a relevant detail, though!
