Josie, a legendary 17-year-old lioness in South Africa's Addo Elephant National Park, survived for five years while completely blind thanks to the devotion of her daughters, Dawn and Duffy. They protected, guided, and fed her until she passed away from old age in October 2025.
The protectors.
@KekunPlazas is this a post about Drill Dozer?
@thibaultamartin Hehe no, but I did enjoy it. 馃檪
I started playing Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge with pretty low expectations, but to my surprise I'm having quite a good time. It plays and feels like the original N64 entry if it was locked to a top down view, bearing the same gameplay and charm. Is it as good as the original ? No, but it's really good in its own right nonetheless, and it feels surprisingly close to the original.
The message from Europeans is clear: children deserve a digital world where they can grow up free, safe and protected.
From harmful content and cyberbullying to addictive online designs, concerns about the risks children face online are growing across Europe.
Tech providers are responsible for the safety of their products and their safe use. Let us give childhood back to our children.
That is Europe's principle; that is the basis of the Digital Services Act.
@EUCommission yes, but there is always a but. It cannot be at the expense of adult users sacrificing their privacy. I am not responsible for other people's children. Leave taking care of children's digital safety to parents.

15 years ago, I wrote a book called The Filter Bubble, warning that algorithmic personalization was going to fracture our shared reality.
I鈥檓 sharing new research because we are about to do this again, but on a far bigger and faster scale. AI is coming for the info environment, and fast.
some thoughts.
1) gen-ai anything is REALLY unpopular. There is no getting around that and it is just as possible that this will solidify as it won't.
2)ai agents used like u project need an active and *accessible* (to them) internet to draw from. are people going to bother to make sites just for ai agents to browse? or wall them off?
3)most people organize irl via sms and in-person with people they know. Do they need/want a "neighborhood running/whatever app"? doubtful.

I've heard so many stories from the "Great migration of 2022" that people were literally chased off of the Fediverse for these very reasons. I get it, CWs and ALT text are very helpful and I sincerely hope people do use them. But if they don't, then don't follow them. It's really that simple. Anything else has proven to be a net negative.
@scottjenson People seem to think that they can police others because it found its way into their feed. So people will use a hashtag and someone sees that hashtag and will police the content on the hashtag. I see lots of posts I don鈥檛 want to see or interact with. I scroll by those, I mute people, I mute hashtags. I don鈥檛 tell people they are doing it wrong by posting something I don鈥檛 want to see. Apparently that isn鈥檛 how everyone thinks about it.
@beka_valentine Have you looked at the prior art for some of this in CRDTs?
@aredridel i have not
I mean Labour was a moribund party, absolutely finished, which is why the grassroots were able to get Jezza through in the first place. He turns around and signs up thousands of new, energetic young people and suddenly you're a party again. The lanyards want that power, so they run a palace coup on their own PM and his left wing base. They pull it off, mostly because the British right would do anything to get rid of Corbyn so you teamed up in the papers, and then immediately purge their own left
Now this SHOULD have been the end of them right then and there right? But Starmer got lucky - the palace coup occurred before the Tories disintegrated in real time. The neoliberals told themselves they were brilliant strategists but my dude, a head of lettuce beat Liz Truss. Anyway, this results in Starmer being able to context an election against people hated even more than he is, and produced a huge majority on paper, that didn't actually look as impressive when you dug into the numbers.
from a UI perspective, we have an ambiguity here, in terms of what is intended by the user with the single keypress
this could be resolved with different modes selected prior to the keypress, or by offering up the different options with one selected as a default
the idea of using gaps is not all that peculiar, fwiw
dependently typed programming languages have them (called holes, sheds, and typed holes depending on language)
so do some text editors, for instance in the form of TextMate's snippet tab stops
Cool story bro, lemme show you what I know about UK politics the past 7 years.

Here's a list of the ~160 GitHub repos the NHS have closed down due to security fears.
The European Commission kills an important driver of European sovereignty and competitiveness: the open source strategy. What a shame!
