We've just published the Commission's proposal for EU-US data exchange. What they suggest would violate EU law.
Anyone’s data exchanged under this proposed agreement could be used for a wide range of purposes. This includes preventing or arresting people travelling to the USA who have voiced opposition to US policies in Europe, or for automated discriminatory profiling of travellers.

We should replace "Quiet Quitting" with "Acting your wage".
Star Wars Day isn't observed in Europe, because no one says "Force the May be with you."
@maxleibman Wait… yoda is European?? That makes so much sense!

Cool overview, I didn’t know the same topic came up last time as well!
For flohmarkt, the current implementation uses a python module that implements https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc8264 (the PRECIS framework), in particular the username profiles, and then does another check to prevent multiple scripts from being used (based on https://www.unicode.org/Public/UNIDATA/Scripts.txt )
though that’s just what I came up with myself.
Perlin noise flow field pattern. Particles follow a Perlin noise flow field that slowly evolves over time. The flow field has a strong upward bias. Each particle leaves a fading trail drawn from the currently selected color palette. Particles respawn at the bottom when they drift off-screen or age out.

Report back from #FediForum last week. Held a good session on #GloballyInclusive handles. Just a few attendees, but one knew the technical issues deeply and was well connected to ActivityPub design. Session notes will likely appear at https://fediforum.org/topics/#topic-internationalization in a few weeks. For now, here is a summary:

I didn't realize how bad GitHub has become. The future of AI driven software development and bots is here and we can see how reliable is everything from this site. 😂

@jpm good news colander head! 😂
@petrillic I keep thinking of neat projects, but somehow they keep accumulating and never progressing. Maybe if I start a new project that I will actually finish this time before going to another project…
Anyone seen a good analysis of colleague-skills https://archive.ph/uvqBx and anti-distillation https://officechai.com/ai/chinas-workers-are-weaponizing-ai-against-each-other-through-colleague-skill-files-and-fighting-back/? Seems like a 'moral panic' that fuses legit fear of bosses replacing workers with hype about limited and hugely unreliable agentic AI.
Your second link points to this interesting analysis:
The honest truth, noted by some analysts, is that not all “AI layoffs” are really about AI — some are post-pandemic corrections dressed up in tech language because it plays better with investors. But that cynicism cuts both ways. When workers can’t tell the difference between genuine automation and strategic optics, they respond to the threat they perceive, not the one that’s technically real.
Colleague.skill and anti-distillation.skill are what that response looks like.
Once again, “AI” is used as a smokescreen – to obfuscate who is responsible for layoffs. It does not matter if “colleague.skill”s are productive if a company just wants to get rid of employees.

Lol. Excellent timing for me logging in for #thePlaylist. Although am loving the outgoing track.
Also very much enjoying the 12 Monkeys theme. What a lovely piece of music.
12 Monkeys was my gateway into Astor Piazzolla and nuevo tango. Awesome stuff
