Short version: When you export a document from Google Docs, Google replaces all your hyperlinks with links that allows Google to monitor the interactions of everyone you share your document with.
This hidden link replacement can potentially be used to build a model of your professional relations, where people who interact more with your content are considered a stronger relation.

I said this a while ago on a deeply nested thread, but I think people miss a critical part of why Excel is popular. It's not that it's a good programming language (the calc language in Excel is pretty bad, though the reactive programming model is nice) it's that it's an amazing debugger. Excel makes it trivial to visually inspect every variable (which it calls a cell). You can debug expressions (which are automatically updated) in exactly the same programmer model as the real expressions. You can create debugging views that mirror some important variables, without learning a different tool.
Build a debugger as nice as Excel and anyone can learn your language.

We have released 1.0 of the #CHERIoT specification! The architecture has been unchanged for almost a year and has been implemented in two open-source cores. We (SCI) are getting back our first CHERIoT silicon from the fab soon and will be moving to mass production net year (I can't talk about what other people are doing with CHERIoT).

Today I found out that google docs infects html exports with spyware, no scripts, but links in your document are replaced with invisible google tracking redirects. I was using their software because a friend wanted me to work with him on a google doc, he is a pretty big fan of their software, but we were both somehow absolutely shocked that they would go that far.
If you’ve ever thought, “Wow, Logan always gets my references,” it’s probably because I went and looked up what you’re talking about. But I’m trying at least!
