Microsoft sounds the alarm about Secure Boot certificates expiring later this year
PCs without the new certificates could eventually have trouble booting new OSes.

@arstechnica they created this problem and yet they are surprised.... why?

when you imagine a bug which is snug in a rug, how do you picture the bug's location relative to the rug?
@kit Appalling that only 23% of the respondents know the TRUTH
@christianselig Yeah, the ICCU issues are a concern, and thankfully no issues with the Kona.
As for CarPlay, I think these companies that are leaving it out are doing so in order to track, and sell data. (For now) I still trust Apple more with that data. Plus I like a consistent experience when it comes to podcasts and maps and voice asisstants. Lastly, my only experience with a manufacturer's SatNav is Hyundai and I do not like it. I find it hard to see, and I HATE the voice!
@rickscully Rivian's navigation voice is pretty good haha. With some companies I totally agree on the selling angle, I think with Rivian though funnily enough their angle is more Apple-like in general: they want to control the stack rather than have potentially massive dependencies on a partner
The perfect pour.

@iamkonstantin @tiesselune Hmm… I'd say that EU politics is more convoluted (reaching agreement, veto, "trilogue", etc) but indeed France seems to be more aligned with the current directions of more autonomy and independence (and it kinda repeated that ad nauseunf for years).
As for internal politics, even when Macron had majority his decissions just weren't popular (pension reform for example). And as presidential republic he _had_ options to push them through the parliment, but this made matters worse AFAIR…
@wojtek @tiesselune maybe he was the “at least not a nazi” vote 😂🙈

It's not a crime to be skeezy as fuck and hang out with other skeezy fuckers. But that doesn't mean it's okay.
@kboyd I didn’t read that article, but I read some other stuff about them. I find it absurd that he claims not to be Epstein’s doctor, despite ordering lab work for Epstein and prescribing medication. Maybe he wasn’t his primary care doctor, but he clearly used his medical training to “care” for Epstein.
Please try out the latest version: https://iupac-inchi.github.io/InChI-Web-Demo/
Remember to switch the version to “Latest with Molecular Inorganics” to experiment with the new features. This will generate a non-standard InChI which is being tested for all molecules including those with bonds to metal atoms. All feedback welcome! Please send comments to: test@inchi-trust.org

Just now, while testifying before the House of Representatives, commissioner of Customs and Border Protection Rodney Scott described anti-ICE protesters as "coordinated well-funded insurgencies" as he called for even more funding and legislation to enable ICE to violently repress US citizens.
Why haven't federal agents begun widespread crackdowns on US citizens? Donald Trump has already called clearly for these—for example, by declaring the nebulous category "antifa" to be "a major terrorist organization."
The answer is simple: federal agencies still have their hands full kidnapping and deporting immigrants. But as soon as they can, they will use the same infrastructure and tactics against US citizens. Fighting for immigrants is fighting to protect ourselves and each other.
Neither law enforcement nor Democrat politicians' hollow calls for minor reforms will protect us. Federal officials have already cast their lot with fascism. We, too, must understand that the only options before us are revolution or autocracy.
It's safer in the front.
BTW @onepict since we're so often talking about consent here on fedi, I should mention that I also discussed it my testimony on HB 2599, regulating AI in therapy. The bill quite rightly prohibits some uses of "AI" by therapists (like emotion detection and making independent therapeuttic decisions). It allows other uses, but requires disclosure and consent. That's good but the wording wasn't strong enough -- I briefly mentioned it in my live testimony , where I only had 2 minutes, and went into more detail in my written testimony. Here's an excerpt.
@emilymbender gave me some great feedback on how to improve the disclosure, and the sponsor appreciated the feedback ... the bill isn't going anywhere this session but we'll hopefully have discussions in the interim and give it another try next year.
And @emilymbender I made sure to get the 🦜 in there in the reference!
@mirth I think I don't care if we build them once we have lots of people living in space in self organizing communities and not company towns, but right now, data centers in space will simply entrench capital more, which im sure is part of the appeal
@beka_valentine My main problem with doing high-mass things in space is we have no likely path to low/no carbon launch so it's going to a lot of emissions. For things like imaging, positioning, communications relays it's arguably so useful as to be worth it (weather forecasts save lives) but that's a whole different scale compared to manufacturing, datacenters, permanent habitation, etc.
I’m writing to you from inside the hospital… My child is in a very critical condition. The virus has spread throughout his small body, causing high fever, weakness, and difficulty breathing 💔
His mother has been crying all day, watching him suffer.
He is an orphan with no guardian, and we desperately need your support to keep him alive 🙏
Please stand by us and help in any way possible…Every moment of delay could cost his life
