@iamkonstantin @tiesselune Hmm… I'd say that EU politics is more convoluted (reaching agreement, veto, "trilogue", etc) but indeed France seems to be more aligned with the current directions of more autonomy and independence (and it kinda repeated that ad nauseunf for years).

As for internal politics, even when Macron had majority his decissions just weren't popular (pension reform for example). And as presidential republic he _had_ options to push them through the parliment, but this made matters worse AFAIR…

@tiesselune This is such a staggering example of oversimplified and unrealistic understanding of human motivations. Something you'd expect from techbros. Whoever is behind this campaign perhaps mistakenly took their corporate droneship outside the office... you can't just post "gentle reminder about baby KPIs"

I lived in France around the time Sarkozy was a president and one thing I learned is that France has a complicated relationship with their government even when there is a well defined majority in parliament. Their current government is quite the mix of conflicting interests and they don't have a majority so there is constantly challenges around every policy be it pensions, retirement, tax, edu etc

@wojtek @tiesselune by contrast on EU level, France is currently well aligned with the rest of the European Union... and there negotiations are usually on a slightly higher level (e.g. between heads of state) or via proceedings like votes and discussions on proposal and policy. That's my take on it at least :)
