@elettrona Sometimes, you find that the communities who say they're the most open, most progressive, more welcoming, most inviting, most accepting, and most open minded, are actually just like the other side except these people don't think they can be ableist or otherwise wrong about anything, so instead of just plainly saying "we don't care about you", they'll say "we love you but if you use AI, you're a Nazi," or that one thing where you're disabled but somehow on the side of the people who hate you. I first found this with Linux. How can an OS that says it's "your" OS be inaccessible if it was made for me? So what people say means very little to me. What they do and how they treat me means a lot more.

Many years ago I was on a long backcountry hike in Big Bend National Park. In the middle I happened upon a couple of hikers, the man had somehow managed to rip the sole off his Vasque boot and was walking with a tshirt tied around his foot. He was holding his boot, looked at me like he was going to die.

I set my pack down and said, “I’m about to make your day a whole lot better.” I reached into my pack and pulled out a small roll of duct tape.

The man almost cried, profusely thanking me.

What had happened is he had the boots in non climate controlled storage and the glue dry rotted and crumbled to dust. He had not tested them before going on a long hike.

Moral to the story: check your gear carefully, and always carry duct tape.

GEM was enough desktop tbh.

Does anyone have any recommendations for earbuds/headphones for gym/workouts?

AirPods would fall out, so I think I need something with a clip. Big headphones won't work as I would get too hot.

I don't like the ones with rubber tips, as I find them so uncomfortable.

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I'm conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent.
