Hey 👋
We managed to get a #postgres setup working for #lauti
codeberg.org/Klasse-Methode/...
Most needed changes are small, but maintaining two database implementations can be a burden, are there more people interested in Postgres support?
LAUTI is your open source community calendar and offers you a non-commercial independent organizing platform. Invite friends, groups and places and let them fill the site with their events. Use it for independent calenders for cities or regions, for political and cultural events, demonstrations, activism, special interest communities and everything else you can imagine.

it's horrible that DDoS (via bot scraping) is now just a normal part of sysadminning
it's as if suddenly some people started stealing the toilet paper from all public toilets, and now you have to stand there at the entrance doling out the sheets...
Oha!
LAUTI will also benefit from the new server as hosting our CI runner will then be free and we probably can even add more capacity to it. So we would be thankful if you are able to contribute a small amount. 🤝
What’s up?
For years, it's been clear that digital infrastructure controlled by a handful of corporations harms us — and marginalized groups in particular.
As a community hosting organization, we are committed to digital solidarity: @eintopf Stuttgart offers an independent event calendar as well as free, non-commercial IT support for self-organized groups.
Why?
In recent years, our groups and services have grown — and so have the demands on our server. Despite receiving donated hardware, we’re still short on hard drives.
Your donation will help us cover the cost of these drives despite rising prices. We’re making a conscious effort to use sustainable, refurbished components.
What for?
Free on the new server:
- @eintopf Stuttgart
- Test environment for @lauti (the software behind EINTOPF)
- Websites for Klasse & Methode and LAUTI
- Various websites for organizations that share our values, e.g., refugees4refugees.org or goldenergaul.org
- Free Nextcloud instances and other services for self-organized groups
- Services for the @coopcloud Federation
Your support for digital solidarity!
Klasse & Methode e.V. loves and lives by the digital commons: We run @eintopf #Stuttgart and other free services for many local groups. So many that we need a new server—the old one is bursting at the seams.

Boosts welcome!
@jakehamilton We build @lauti and a personal digital security analysis tool, help self-organized groups who share our values with websites, FOSS hosting and trainings.
Furthermore we're part of @coopcloud
Some LAUTI instances have been facing extended DDoS attacks lately. For our own instance @eintopf@sueden.social we reduced the load by deploying @CrowdSec@infosec.exchange which seems to have stablized the situation. We'll keep monitoring and see how it goes. Any other instances having these issues?
Progress is slow but steady on our road to implement #activitypub
The next piece of the puzzle is raedy: storing incoming activities and adding the the followers collection to the instance actor
codeberg.org/Klasse-Methode/...
Reviews are highly appreciated as always 🙏 #fedidev
LAUTI instances are shown with a black/white pin.
🔥 The Bonfire Social 1.0.5 release candidate is out!
This one brings archipelago mode (opt-in, allow-list federation for tightly-knit communities and networks), a more lightweight search backend (see changelog for migration steps), broadcasting announcements, another embeddable widget, PGP-encrypted emails, and many UX improvements and fixes.
If you're running an instance and want to give it a go, please let us know if you run into any issues.
Full changelog: docs.bonfirenetworks.org/cha...
Our next two #activitypub pull requests are ready for review:
- adding a public key to our instance actor codeberg.org/Klasse-Methode/... (note we use rsa for now as recomended in swicg.github.io/activitypub-..., but we will propably support more keys in the future)
- adding an empty inbox with #httpsig verification codeberg.org/Klasse-Methode/... #fedidev
With the exodus from big tech social media, people often wonder where they find events for their city or community. The need for community driven/owned event calendars rises and with it people starting one themselves. Nowadays there are a couple of viable technical solutions, but the real question is: How do you get people to use them. In this blog post we reflect on nearly 5 years of building and operating @eintopf@sueden.social We hope this will help others to make their calendar a success. Comments and additions highly welcome.

@lauti@bonfire.cafe is LAUTI working with Mobilizon and Bonfire for events? Would love to do some kind of integration via AP
@julian@activitypub.space @liaizon@social.wake.st
We laid out the details of our fediverse strategy and cooperation with bonfire in this blog post: lauti.org/blog/lauti-updates...
And overall we collaborate with Mobilizon and Gancio @lesion@mastodon.cisti.org via @linos@graz.social @blog@event-federation.eu and the FEP-8a8e. All plan to implement that to have a common base for federating events. Not sure how far the implementation on their side is. @linos@graz.social do you know more?
Would be awesome if NodeBB also supports the FEP in the future.
