... & a routine for parsing the UTC leapseconds file.
But mostly Hare's `time::chrono` standard library supplies that `timescale` type holding a name, abbrevation, & conversion callbacks.
It has a routine for iterating over the given timescales & converting converting an argument to it, trying multiple conversion callbacks.
There's timescales defined for TAI (no leapseconds), UTC (has leapseconds, GPS (different epoch than UNIX), Teresstrial Time (different epoch), ...
3/4!!
... & Coordinated Mars Time (rescaled with offsets).
To handle Leap Seconds it reads in the file if needed, compares against the 1st leap-second, iterates backwards over the leapseconds array looking for the relevant entry, & adds/subtracts it. And there's a very similar inverse routine.
3.5/3.5 Fin for today! Tomorrow: The `time::date` sublibrary!
Great news, but a shame it's at tourist prices. Hopefully over time the price reduces to something that makes more economical than driving or taking a bus

If France and Peru can put former Presidents in jail for crimes committed in office; I believe in US.
He's clearly deranged, and it's a scandal that that's not on the front page of every newspaper in the country.

Civil Asset Forfeiture is one of the most routine constitutional violations practiced today, and of course a government of grifters who hate foreigners is going to just steal foreigners’ shit with impunity https://www.vice.com/en/article/police-can-take-your-stuff-for-no-reason-and-the-practice-is-on-the-rise/

I've been fanboy of technology for decades. All those years of following and writing about it never changed that.
But while I could always appreciate, and often celebrate, the achievements of some of the people who created things, I was never a fan of their industry. Its growth and power came with a massive increase in arrogance and abuse.
If we don't get a handle on this, everything good about tech will be subsumed by the bad.
@kimapr i can maybe see an argument for user mutes on server cause of timed mutes (good feature) but word mutes on server actively discourages research in more powerful filtering imho. which i'm butthurt about bc https://emacsconf.org/2024/talks/regex/ that sort of thing is rly powerful in the hands of the user
@kimapr also searching on client may be less ridiculous than it sounds if every post made and/or seen on client is preprocessed into a queryable db. doesn't solve search for other stuff but 99% of the time i am searching my own tweets
@kimapr word mutes aren't iirc
