As we integrate #OpenAlex data into the #Bonfire#OpenScience flavor, we're displaying familiar metrics: works count, citations, h-index, research topics, institutional affiliations...
These might be exactly what you need, or perhaps just a starting point.
What additional information would help you find collaborators or understand someone's work better?
We're opening this design process to the open science community. Share what works, what doesn't, what's missing.

Public Interest Social Networks
Bonfire is built by communities, for communities. Rooted in autonomy, mutual care, and collective power. Co-create your tools, reclaim your data, and resist manipulation by shaping your own federated digital spaces.

we're indeed very curious about the TwoWay RSS @fahrni was talking about... 👀
but we divide our work also on open science extensions ( https://bonfirenetworks.org/posts/openscience_network/ ) and other experiments. Happy to provide more concrete info 😊
@fahrni
There's now a new setting under "privacy" to decide the default active tab in the DM view (fig 1) and we've implemented filtering DMs by "followed only" (fig 2) as the lowest hanging fruit 🍓 .
DMs from people you don't follow are still received and saved - this is just UI filtering for now. And agree with what @j12t was pointing out, followers/following isn' really meaningful for classifying relationships or trust...

Exploring a Bonfire Geosocial Extension
Fediverse Report #126 - This week's #fediverse news:
- Music sharing platform Bandwagon adds the ability for artists to sell albums, create paid channels for exclusive content, and announces upcoming premium subscription tier for artists
- @Bonfire Social is getting close to release, and team already working on other features as well
- some good articles on what its like to be a moderator, and the impact of LLMs on small communities on the fediverse

P.S. We're also working with @sciety to help them build a #bonfire flavour specifically for #preprints publications as part of their #nlnet grant: https://blog.sciety.org/sciety-secures-funding-from-nlnet-foundation-to-help-build-discourse-around-preprints/
The fediverse is definitely the right place for open science 🔥
🌊 Exciting news! Crowdinblue - a mission-led initiative bridging water solutions with funding - has chosen #Bonfire to build their federated community space!
Together, we're designing custom extensions to connect water projects with impact investors and crowdfunding opportunities. All in a federated environment that puts communities and projects first.
Welcome to the Bonfire ecosystem, crowdinblue! 💚
