Public Interest Social Networks
Bonfire is built by communities, for communities. Rooted in autonomy, mutual care, and collective power. Co-create your tools, reclaim your data, and resist manipulation by shaping your own federated digital spaces.

@fresseng @devSJR @ORCID_Org @OpenAlex
btw we are in touch with @kfitz and she joined a few times the open science network meetings... we really hope to join forces more as we move forward (also in terms of building resilient and better governed digital spaces)!
@razortide we don't have any ETA yet, all the 1.0 features are in place (actually much more than the ones we originally aimed for) and we're now dealing with feed logic refactoring, framework optimisations and ensuring it federates properly....we aim to push a release candidate in the next months and evaluate from there.
@razortide yes :)
@devSJR @danieldekay @JorisMeys hey there! Yeah we are still rolling 😊 mostly heads down on finishing the 1.0 release hence we are not communicating much new experimentations lately. But we aim to put the testing server online again in 2-3 weeks with *lots* of improvements.
Ofc manpower has always been a huge limit as well as finances, but we will get there ✌️… ha! the joy of floss

@devSJR @da5nsy you may enjoy also this blogpost https://bonfirenetworks.org/posts/openscience_network/
yeah we also implemented a custom integration with @OpenAlex and @ORCID_Org ...here the demo we presented at the last #fediforum

@dleberre @pierreboudes @unif @fresseng @bmarne @Zekovski @bonfire@mastodon.social fyi leveraging bonfire framework you can build custom extensions tailored for your specific needs automatically plugged in a federated environment… happy to share more or discuss your use case :)

👀 We were selected for a contest of 99 projects contributing to the "Commons Economy" of tomorrow. You can support us by voting Bonfire and give it more chances to be selected for the next iteration, that means free visibility and global reach.

@lawik time ago, we envisioned a pilot to connect IoT and smart applications to the fediverse, aiming to federate citizen science efforts and simplify the monitoring and collection of open data. We outlined the idea here: https://bonfirenetworks.org/gaia/.
I’m wondering if prototyping a PoC integration with #Nerves could be an interesting experiment to validate this idea. Even better, it would be amazing if the Nerves community might be interested in collaborating to explore this further! 👀
@d1re_w0lf While there may still be breaking changes for people hacking on extensions, we expect it to be a smooth upgrade for instance operators and users :)
@yetiinabox @are0h yes we have all the building blocks to share blocklists, subscribe to team or having multiple individuals curating them. We will get there.
@n0toose apparently...
@lebout2canap
Kudos to @KamalaHarrisWin @newsmast @tchambers and all the wonderful people involved in pushing the Harris campaign and crowdfunding across the fedi, despite the result this is the approach we need to cultivate for the years to come.
Use the fediverse to organize, care, protect and grow the commons.
Make alliances, experiment, build cooperatives, transform how we work and connect and have fun.
Explore the art of living in a damaged planet.
We the network.
📢 Any devs in #London today? Join us for a talk and Q&A on the Bonfire Framework at the Elixir London meetup! 🔥
@mayel will introduce @bonfire, a flexible framework of tools and libraries to build federated, social and collaborative apps.
Perfect for devs interested in Elixir and open-source, modular and federated software.
📅 7:00 PM Friday October 25th @ Erlang Solutions, Whitechapel
@meljoann @radiofreefedi yeah it’s a pity we still didn’t found a way to focus on RFF pilot! We are trying to get the 1.0 out and at same time find sustainability to pay ourselves and onboard new devs among other things. Maybe applying to a grant to develop the needed features could be a way to push this forward? Happy to chat more about it…
