Public Interest Social Networks
Bonfire is built by communities, for communities. Rooted in autonomy, mutual care, and collective power. Co-create your tools, reclaim your data, and resist manipulation by shaping your own federated digital spaces.

The academic preview widget goes further by supporting several different data schemas (wikibase, crossref, some json-ld fields, …): https://github.com/bonfire-networks/bonfire_ui_social/blob/main/lib/components/activity/media/academic_paper_live.sface (by doing things like `e(author, "family", nil) || e(author, "lastName", nil) || e(author, "name", nil)`)
Also, on the topic of interactive notebooks, have you played with https://livebook.dev ?

While we (@bernini and @mayel) probably don’t have bandwidth to work on this in the short/medium term (besides releasing Bonfire Classic 1.0 we’re focused on things which have communities backing and co-designing them, eg. @radiofreefedi and @open_science@a.gup.pe pilot projects)... 1/3
@mcg @mayel @evan that's why user researches are a crucial tool to validate design patterns, in this case: https://www.prosocialdesign.org/library/label-misleading-content-add-links-to-reliable-related-content
@evan we have just prototyped a new tool for moderators to deal with potential misleading contents on the fedi : https://bonfirenetworks.org/posts/content_labelling_in_bonfire
Would love to get feedbacks and codesign it together (original thread: https://indieweb.social/@bonfire/111822653600466648 )
🔥 We've developed a new bonfire extension based on a documented design pattern to validate the power of Bonfire's modularity and to initiate closer collaboration with researchers, activists, and organisations that are committed to designing and fostering safer digital spaces.

@UlrikeHahn @matt Thanks, made a note of it: https://github.com/bonfire-networks/bonfire-app/issues/832
@linos, the easiest way to understand Bonfire is to think of it as "WordPress for federated social networks".
@brembs
btw we had a chat with @ronent and tomorrow we will meet again - while funding remains the crucial problem to address, thrive to create a cooperative ecosystem where different projects and communities can collaborate on solutions rather than compete is essential as well and we believe can potentially unlock novel ways of getting and distributing resources to achieve common goals...
@Lambo
Huge thanks for the suggestion! We’ve now implemented that as well and being able to paste non-DOI ids or URLs and getting the same article preview indeed greatly improves the usability.
