My ASUS router doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy about my network's security, so I'm finally doing something about it. My options are OpenWRT and pfSense/OPNsense. It's surprisingly hard to find mini-PCs with two network interfaces, and finding a PCI card that fits into it is a hassle. I just bought two $55 ASUS RT-AX53U routers compatible with OpenWRT. I love how the OpenWRT hardware compatibility page (https://toh.openwrt.org/) has a link to detailed installation instructions for a particular router brand and model and even a forum link where it is discussed in some cases!
