Beryl 7 (dual-band WiFi 7 travel router) is also now available, which claims ~1Gbps Wireguard and OpenVPN performance, with a MediaTek CPU:

while it looks like Beryl 7 will launch with firmware based on a proprietary SDK based on OpenWrt 21.02, the fact that it's a MediaTek CPU and based on prior history with #GLiNet, the case is promising for future support for a version of GLi's firmware based on recent OpenWrt, and eventual mainline #OpenWrt support.
for what it's worth, WiFi 7 support on OpenWrt isn't exactly fully baked yet with other hardware either.
I'm very interested in this one, as I use Beryl AX freqeuently while traveling and it works well. I just wish Beryl 7 was tri-band... and available in other colors.
GL.iNet Mudi 7 specs are out and it's now available for pre-order ($319, down from a $399 price target for general release), to ship in April.

noteworthy details:
* 5G and 4G, 6x internal and optional 2x external antennas
* dual SIM support
* tri-band WiFi 7, 1x 2.5GbE port
* 600Mbps Wireguard and 700Mbps OpenVPN
* USB type-C tethering and OTG
* quad-core Qualcomm CPU
* 2GB RAM and 8GB eMMC
* up to 13.5h battery life and USB-PD fast charge
given that it's a Qualcomm CPU I would not expect mainline OpenWrt support any time real soon, but it will be running GL.iNet's build of OpenWrt + their software, and should have access to most packages available on vanilla OpenWrt.
based on my experiences with #GLiNet I would wait for the firmware to stabilize before buying this, with the expectation that increasing competition in the travel router space will push that $399 price target down over time.

v8 for the #multicast patchset for the #OpenWrt #Realtek target pushed: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/18780#issuecomment-3808673943
Now rebased onto the v6.18 PR for #OpenWrt. And with many style changes, which were suggested in the comments of this PR.
Curiously without needing to cherry-pick the mdio_aux reset-gpio revert to fix https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/issues/18620. Worked out-of-the-box on v6.18. Will need to dig deeper later what in OpenWrt or between 6.12->6.18 might have fixed that.

Going to be getting rid of my UniFi cloud key and ac pro lr and thinking about getting a EAP660 HD V1 second hand. Which I'll then flash #OpenWRT onto. Anybody else gone this route or maybe even uses the same AP ? Thoughts ?

Collabora ports Debian to OpenWrt One
The OpenWrt project's first own router, OpenWrt One, now also runs with Debian. This makes it an all-purpose Linux system.
OpenWrt project looking into moving to mirror tiering system and looking for Tier 1 hosts (mirror origin for other mirrors) https://lists.openwrt.org/pipermail/openwrt-devel/2026-January/044513.html
Roughly - high uptime, 1 Gig unlimited with IPv6 and 6 TB store (basis future growth) required.
