The EU is working toward fast-track antitrust approval for a satellite joint venture (merger) between Leonardo SpA, Airbus SE, and Thales SA, called Project BROMO, to counter the dominance of SpaceX Starlink.

One of its main goals is to develop IRIS2, a multi-orbit (LEO, MEO and GEO) satellite constellation for govt. and civilian use, with an initial target of 300 satellites.
