TIL: Identifying and Backing Up Game Saves
I want to retire my old gaming PC and hand it over to a friend.
But before doing so, I wanted to make sure I had a backup of every saved game on that machine.
I wasn't exactly looking forward to this task, expecting to spend hours hunting down save files scattered across countless directories.
Today, I discovered Ludusavi (on GitHub).
This tool does the entire job with a single command:
ludusavi backup --path "E:\SteamSavegames" --force
In just seven minutes, it checked its database of over 50,000 games, identified 80 of them on my PC, and backed up all their save files to a network drive.
Some of those games I'd completely forgotten I'd ever played. 😄
Excellent tool!
