My next phone will be a #Linux

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS I build apps for personal use with MIT App Inventor - will these stop working?

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS Guess they're following apple's lead... Not that I agree with either model, mind. Nor own their products.

Good call from you guys though. Let's hope it sinks in... Maybe.

It's already here.

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS why Firefox is not support KaiOS? Is a fork of the old abandoned Firefox OS with a little help from Firefox can be a good Android alternative.

it was never about freedom, if you thought Android was magically 'freer' than other platforms, you were deluded.

As someone who currently has an iPhone I was always bemused about the cries of 'walled garden' and 'closed source' when Google had an iron grip on Android phones, sadly...and where it didn't, it allowed a LOT of malware and dodgy apps, hence I guess this update.

Given my experience of both, I now trust Apple way more than Google, who sells data and allowed all kinds of spyware....

Full open source OSes is the way - but the problem is jailbreaking/rooting etc. It's gotten easier from when I used to break open my old LG/Samsung devices. but it needs to be standard.

But also a way of vetting/upvoting/peer reviewing the apps you run...most folks can't download from Github, let alone review code!

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS someone tell me, what's the worst thing that could happen if I sign this?

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS
So glad I ordered a Jolla phone expected to be shipped these days. Only not yet sure how to deal with banking and health care apps ...

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS signed the petition, this is very disappointing if I wanted a locked down device I'd buy an Iphone

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS
Does this also has impact on #Murena /e/OS ? (that is Android without google)

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS

Noo nooooo, that cannot be an actual issue!!!!!

I told everyone 10-15 years ago (i.d. when it wasn't too late) that exactly these things are going to happen.

All all the smart people around me agreed:

I'm a stupid idiot. I follow conspiracy theories. I'm a tinfoil hat guy. All these things are FINE and there is DEFINITELY NO PROBLEM AT ALL, everyone agreed.

So, calm down!!!!

Everything is FINE!!! 😉 😉 ;)

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS

just buy a phone from a left company

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS I couldn't agree more! While I notice that, in the absence of MicroG and Google Play Services, Tuta’s notifications don’t work—unlike other apps (e.g., Signal, Proton, etc.).

@Tutanota @GrapheneOS I'm faily positive a "phone" has NEVER been our. Google and others have made sure it it just an extension of their advertising and data collection departments from day one. As are most commercial software products and most appliances, autos and everything else we "purchase".
